Remember....What was it called again...Y2K?

Remember the Y2K ? Remember all the commotion that took place in 1999 ? Did you or your family prepare for "Power outages" and "Food shortages" along with preparing for the worst ? Do you know who did or did you just sit back and didnt really care of what was taking place.

its 11:58pm....What were you doing ?

Hmm...yes I remember that night. I remember I was 16 and working at the local Skating Arena....I was on the skate floor when the clock struck 12, and if you really want to think about it, I was the first person to skate there in 2000....Fun huh?

We were drinking champage by the fire and, laughing at all the idiots who bought cases of water and canned food.

Our neighbors were so convinced it was the end of the world.... it was a pathetic sight. They were heavily armoured. I SOOOO wish I was kidding.

Thank god they moved.

I was working for the State as a computer nerd. It was my job to make sure all of the computers and equipment were Y2K compliant. We had had a "Dry Run" several months prior so I knew we were ready. I just had to be there to be sure.

well, my roommate stocked up on water and non-perishable food items, and made us do the same. Like she said, we go camping in the summers... if we don't need it for Y2K, then we'll have a head start on the next camping season.

also, she was bringing home "Y2K survival kit" literature, describing things such as "electric can opener... gps system..." as if any of that would do a bit of good if everything went ka-put. i think she brought them just for comedy value.

As for the time itself? i can't remember. I was either working, or online, or passed out, or doing homework. or something like that. (Actually i'm pretty sure i was online chatting with friends overseas... well into the new millenium with no problems to speak of).

Cute~
Outside by the bonfire wating for my brothers to start the fireworks. Convincing my son that his Nana and Papa (my parents) were completely outside of thier minds with insanity while we were waiting for the clock to strike 12 to celebrate the New Milineum. My parents on the other hand were hunkered down in a make shift bomb shelter with my sister convinced that the airfield that we lived 15 miles away from might upon the stroke of 12 disenegrate and initiate the end of AZ as we knew it. They were fully stocked with canned goods, lanterns, bags of rice, a drip system from the well and a latrine that my step father dug into the sewer system. They lived on a ranch 50 outside of the city limits. They had lost thier minds. So my brothers and I thought we'd take advantage of the situation and throw a huge bon fire party on thier property for New Year's Eve since they's be camped out in the shelter til January 3rd. They were convinced that it would be safe to check for fall out and radiation levels 3 days after New Years if all of the A-Bombs across the world went off simulatneously. <SDA rolls eyes and shakes head in utter disbeleif that she is related to such redneck freaks>. But they are my family and praise God they managed to live through the tragedy of Y2K just fine. Blessed be our Lord Jesus. LOL

Network_Minx-that must have been a real stressful year, to plan, and have everything ready, to test and check and be prepared for not knowing what 2000 would hold.

I was in Hawaii and watched the news waiting for timesquare to go up in flames or somthing...never happened. So we went to the beach and watched and hour and a half of fireworks, lit our own, and drank my champagne straight from the bottle; standing on the lavarocks with the waves crashing on the beach behind me. I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT NEW YEARS EVE.

nah! i thought it was a ridiculous fuss about nothing. however, in 1994 on the brink of elections to change to a "new South Africa" my husband's rightwing parents were stockpiling loads of shit if fear of a war breaking out when the ANC got elected... when his father died on 11 sept 2001 there was still some of the stockpile left!

I remember it all too well...it was my wedding night! I was probably either having hot monkey sex or sipping champagne out of my ex-husband's bellybutton!

FYI: The marriage only lasted four months.

FreeLove999 pack rats-there everywhere, and so much to get rid of ! I totally understand that area very well. At least there wasn't a paranoid era like most people had.

sweetthang2877 to say, should i apologize for the short term marriage-not sure, yet I will say hot monkey sex is the best, yet sucking champagne out of a bellybutton does nothing more than tickle me and make the drink fall out down my side and make me laugh even harder.
