A night out with the boys - and a question for the ladies of Blogville

One of the highlights of my month is the meal that I go to with some good friends of mine.

It's no big thing - we go to a pub in as few cars as possible, we have a meal and a few drinks, we talk and we split the bill after agreeing where we go next week.

It's one of the few "guy / bloke" things that I do, because I'm not a typical sort of bloke - not really a drinker, and as far as "going out on the pull" the most pulling I ever do is a christmas cracker!

This has been rattling around in my head for ages, that maybe I'm enough of a man.

So my question to the ladies is not what you look for in a man, but how do you define a man?

Or is this a stupid question?

If a question is asked sincerely it is never "stupid"

I look for honesty

Defining a man? A male with integrity, compassion, who can admitted an error and standfast to his convictions

Don't worry, be Happy

I'm not sure what a guys' night out has to do with being a man?

I define a man exactly as I'd define a woman..tell the truth even if it hurts, help people where you can, be what you want to seem. I like a man with the balls to cry if he's hurting, and I like a woman with the balls to shield her man when he needs it.

Gender's got nothing to do with it, in my view..it's about giving the people in your life what they need when they need it.

I expect the same from everyone, Chris, but this is a good talking point so I hope it results in a debate

More specifically, you have more balls than a lot of the guys around here because you're yourself. Don't confuse being a man with being a lad. Lad culture is a sign of deep deep insecurity, hence the hunting in packs. Real people relish their independence.

Thanks for the comment - I'm not sure either but I think it's because my friends go out all the time doing the guy thing and I don't so I got to think I was the freak!

I define people... not men or women...
