Did you think she was hot?

I always get frustrated when I'm out somewhere with a woman I'm involved with and she asks me if I think another woman is attractive.

That line of questioning rarely goes anywhere good.

First of all, chances are I did think the other woman in question was attractive. I have pretty universal, pedestrian tastes. Most of the famous women that are widely considered hot, I consider hot, too. I'm sure many men share my tastes.

Second of all, finding another woman attractive makes me no less attracted to my current partner. It's not as though I can only be attracted to one person at a time.

Third, what if my partner and I disagree on the attractiveness of the lady in question? What if she thinks she looks slutty or fat or over-made-up and I don't? Or vice versa? It's not as though anyone can be "right" in this situation.

If any women are reading this, please keep in mind that a willingness to enjoy the beauty of the world around us does not automatically indicate that a man will stray. A wise woman I know once said about her husband's wandering eye, "I don't care where he gets his appetite as long as he eats at home." They're still together and it's been nearly twenty years.

Of course, given the nature of this site I realize that some people might ask their partners questions like this for, uh, other reasons. In those cases... pay no attention to the above.

A variation on "I don't care where he gets his appetite as long as he eats at home." that I use is "Just because you're on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu."
