Asked out via e-mail?

I was at an event earlier this evening and chatted with a friend to whom I'm very attracted. She had to leave before me so I didn't get a chance to ask her for a date like I'd planned.

I tried calling her immediately after the event but she didn't answer and earlier in the evening she'd told me that her cell phone was completely kaput.

So when I got home I asked her out via e-mail. Now I'm twiddling my thumbs hoping she says yes.

I'm also hoping she's not turned off by the way I asked. Is it too wimpy? While her phone's not working e-mail is the only way I have to reach her.

How do you feel when someone invites you on a first date via e-mail? Does it turn you off?

Pretty much all my dates, since I got married, were via email.

But, I have to say that "W" calls me occasionally. I actually love that he does call me, as it's more personal, and he's not afraid to call me!

Your situation is different, of course. If you explained to her WHY you chose to ask via email, (telling her you would have preferred to call, but her phone was off), then I think she'd be fine with that.
Now, let's hope she is as anal about checking her mail as I am and gets the invite soon enough! I'd follow up with a call, though, just to make sure she got it, and ask again.
Good luck!

Well... the e-mail date didn't happen.

I just had another woman cancel a date via e-mail.

E-mail can be frustrating.
