Blow my mind, not just my penis

"Woman with a sweet lovin', better than a white line" Anyone remember that rock lyric? It points to a phenomenon all too rare in life; namely, consciousness-altering sex. I have heard it said that sex is kind of like pizza--even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. I suppose that has some truth, especially when you're a 21 year old guy. But as I get older (not old yet though), I get pickier. If I just want to cum, I can masturbate. It fills the immediate physical need and involves none of the complications of flirting, foreplay, or emotional attachment. I am not saying those things are bad; in fact I think they are much of what can make sex the beautiful experience we long for. But masturbation is easier and quicker. There is a whole other level of sexuality available to us as humans, though, and I think it goes way beyond physical stimulation. Have you ever had sex that felt like it would blow the top of your head right off? The kind of sexual experience that you reminisce about months later and it still brings a slight smile of awe and appreciation? I have had sexual encounters that became almost psychadelic in their intensity, where my mind was filled with not just pleasure, but rapture, a kind of ecstasy that is almost spiritual. I think that is part of what the Tantric writers have been trying to describe for centuries. We can utilize our bodies and their natural responses to reach a point of powerful experience that goes beyond our bodies. I certainly don't expect that every time I have sex, but I try to remember that it is possible. That is part of the power of sex. It can move us physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. It is such a force that I don't believe it can be explained simply in evolutionary terms as a desire to procreate, but there is another element to our sexuality that we often repress or try to ignore, but that does not make it less real. I sometimes wonder if I am some kind of freak because I have experienced this and I have rarely heard others mention it. I don't think so though. I believe that many others have also been beyond their own minds during sex, but we are often afraid of what we don't fully understand and besides, how can you talk about something that is so effemeral and difficult to describe? But when it happens, it is definitely better than "a white line" or any other chemical induced experience I have ever found.
