Musical Memories

During some chat this morning, one of my musical memories was brought out into the open.
The song that was played as the `First Dance` at my wedding, almost 10 years ago. It was one that i had heard so frequently over the years, in that it was played often by the band that an ex of mine played in. During that relationship it had never been played for me, he wasn`t one for showing his feelings......boy do i pick them.
On the day of my wedding the song was played for me on the local radio station. It was requested by the parents of one of my patients, who i was closely involved with.
When the time came to dance to it infront of my guests, i felt truly amazing. In my beautiful Gold dress, with my handsome husband. Dreams did come true.
Its all come crashing down around my ears now but i will hold onto some of the happy memories.
So although this song makes me sad in one respect, i can still remember the happiness i felt that day.
And the song?

With a tear in my eyes but smiling

Mine was "Let me wrap you in a warm and tender love" by Percy Sledge, and then "When a man loves a woman" also Percy Sledge. Those were the songs that "we" danced too,
Can't stand hearing them anymore, to many good and bad memories.

Wipes away the ugly ducklings tear, and says
You are a swan , you are a swan.

It's a song of pride and devotion from a man to his wife, reflecting her care for him and his joy in her. It's the kind of song that makes me wonder how I will live on if my wife is not there. (Far more meaningful than When I'm 64!)

But once that almost magical admiration and mutual respect was lost, the song must transform into a dream, verging on the saccharine for you. Look forward, not back.

For me, I will dance this song with my wife on our silver wedding anniversary in ten years time and think of you in our joy.

For you, what you were you can never be again. Never assume that it was better before.

I can still remember the day happily & the song is still beautiful. You are very lucky to have the kind of relationship you do.
Take Care of each other and nurture the love.
