Life Choices

Spent yesterday with an old High school friend in Seattle. It was the first time we had met in over 10 years and even though we have been in constant email contact between times there is nothing like a good face to face to move thing along. He is a RF systems engineer with Boeing and makes just shy of 6 figures. Next week he's buying his first house at 46. With a 30 yr note on $310k. He has had his share of ups and downs in life and like all of us some were out of his control, others results of bad choices. He has a good heart and has learned his lessons well from his failures. I wish him all the luck in the world in building a secure retirement. He has in many ways led a more eventful life than I have but with some of those thrills comes a heavy price. Some of us have personalities that can withstand the bill others limit their exposure to the dangers. Even though we are both in many ways totally different people than we were in high school there is still a bond that goes deep, way beyond views on current events, politics and other mundane matters. This is a comfort to me.
