The Irony Of It

I took my son to therapy the other day, since he isn't aloud to drive yet. His doctor & therapist are very impressed with his progress on moving his fingers. He thinks my son will have close to 100% use of his hand & arm. That is really great news. My son faces another surgery soon, to graph the piece of bone from his hip to fill in the piece of bone he lost in his arm in the accident.

I'm very confident in his doctor & the therapist working with him. I was impressed that she suggested he work on his finger movement at home until he had to come in to see the doctor again in 2 weeks, saving him the money, since he had to pay for these therapy sessions out of his pocket. She said she will be seeing lots of him later, when the pins are removed & after his bone graph surgery. She also suggested a good treatment for his hand, instead of the hot water bath to soak his fingers, would be heat bags filled with rice, field corn or dry beans which he could put in the microwave to heat up. I have seen these used for sore tired muscles & I was always going to make me a few. I have sewed since I was in 7th grade, so we bought a big bag of rice & I made him a few heat bags to use at home. Anyone ever use these kinds of heat bags?

It is so dam ironic, on the back of this kid's car, the one who hit my son on his Harley head-on last month, has a sticker on the back of his car window, which says "Back Off!" If he had taken his own advice & not been so close to the car in front of him, he may have been able to stop, instead of swerving into my son's lane & hitting him.

A friend of mine recovering from a car accident swears by them. She purchases them from pharmacies.

Heat bags are very good and warmth into damaged and mending tissue works wonders in my experience. Hope your son makes a full recovery over time. warm xx

thanks tamethytension & warmandsexy. it's hard watching your child or parent go through pain, wanting to take the pain away for them... so anything that helps, is worth it!

I think I might just go into business making these hot rice bags
