Deception and Bullying

OK, I feel sick that I feel the need to post this, but it was weighing on me the moment I woke up.

I made the mistake of reading all the postings about DustyWidget, and all the horrible things that are being said about him.

Let me stress, this not a post about DustyWidget. I have no opinion on who is in the right and who is in the wrong and I don't want people to start venting about it on here.

No, what this post is about is human nature.

1930s Germany
Wartime France
1960s America

I want no part of your pathetic behaviour. Whether you are right or whether you are wrong is irrelevant.

You say that DW is being investigated by the AdultFriendFinder authorities. Well, fine, if that's true - and if it's not I hope he sues the arse off every last one of you.

But if he is being investigated, why on earth do you still start a controversy in the blogs about him? I mean, AtomicArtist, you don't even have the balls to name him (oh yes, I'm digging deep within my heart at the moment, and I know exactly what I feel: sick).

This kind of behaviour was called bullying when I went to school, and it's even more despicable in grown-ups.

Bullies may tell the truth, but they are not nice people.

And, going on from that comment, I'm also disappointed to discover the extent to which some bullies have been acting in concert behind the scenes.

OK, so some Cliticals' posts were taken from other sources. But, BaronessK went to the trouble of sourcing the original articles?? Wow. Such devotion.

So, you guys are all in cahoots, then? Some destroy people's reputations in ther blogs, some have the minor role of joining the hunting pack (are cowards any better than bullies?), and others are doing all the digging in the background.

Who's doing the digging on DW, then? Or do you have one person doing the financial stuff, another doing the "rip him to shreds" posts and someone else to monitor the websites he visits??

And who is next on your list of people to destroy?

Shit. Nice people...not.

Can I just make it clear, Hydragenias, that I would be ashamed to call any of these people my friends.

(OK, normal service will shortly be resumed. You can expect a new story to balance the mood soon)

Blogito ergo sum.

I thought this was not about DustyWidget????? It seems to be...but that is ok either way. You have an opinion and a right to say what you feel! I tend to ignore the dramatics and blog on.....

My point is that I'm using that only as a current example of bullying behaviour. I have no idea who is in the right and who is in the wrong, and I don't want to get involved.

I'm with freetime on this one. If we're playing junior high I'm keeping out of the corridor gossip, bullying and stuff and I've gone to the library to work on my next essay ..... er post.

Quite right, Warm. Your blog today was far more thoughtful and worthy of consideration than mine, and I say that very sincerely.

I have made a point of keeping out of this one. I do think people have to be very careful online and it is very easy to get caught up in these things. I hate it when people are unpleasant to each other and I've previously posted about it.

On the whole I have avoided blogging about bloggers. I will occasionally mention a post and a blogger that has impressed me or I want to draw attention to on the basis of merit, but always in the context of the blog I am writing. I have dedicated material occasionally, but I do so cautiously, because I actually think it's best to be discreet. I have played the odd game, when I've been drawn into it, but I'd rather not in many ways. If I name my five favourite bloggers, what about the sixth, the seventh?

There is a risk of getting very publicly wrapped up in each other, and stories that are not really central to our existences get amplified out of all proportion. Things can go wrong, and misunderstandings can happen very quickly in this medium (I know - it's happened to me) so I play safe and try my best to steer clear.

Now what were you saying?

The Clitiwhats? Dusty who?

Go on ....... whisper in my ear .......

~whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper ~

And in my best Frankie Howerd voice ......

Oooooooooooooh! Aaaaaaaah! Well I never!!!!!

And I'll pucker my lips soooo tight in shock and horror you'll think I'm impersonating a cat's arse!

Don't worry, Warm, I'll get back to the sex very soon. And then you can do your real Frankie Howerd impression!

Bullies are one of the worst forms of harrassment and it's even worse when they think they are in the right. If you think a profile or whatever on here is fake then just bloody ignore it, don't read it, don't post on it and leave them to their own little lie. They're not killing anyone at the end of the day.

Atomic is smart enough to cover his own ass is what he is doing, he knows that one name mentioned is enough to get you booted.

Amen? What is this a tent revival?

CB_2 replies on 8/16/2006 11:31 am:
Do you surprise me, Saintlianna? Of course you don't. Sadly.

CB_2 replies on 8/16/2006 11:32 am:
It's still bullying.

Im sad too, sad that people can plagurize and when someone calls them on it they are considered bullies.

CB_2 replies on 8/16/2006 1:36 pm:
Well, people should read the blog in question, shouldn't they? It's very long, for the short topic of complaining of plagiarism, I find.

Maybe you should read the comment he wrote to me and find why he keeps writing apology posts before assuming you know everything.

For someone that doesnt want involved, you sure get involved dontcha? Does that suprise me? Of course it doesnt, sadly

CB_2 replies on 8/16/2006 5:08 pm:
Saintlianna, it was clear to me that the post on AtomicArtist's blog started much more than he ever expected it to. But that's the whole point, isn't it: somewhere it gets started and then others pick it up and run with it, and suddenly it is all over blogville.

I could as easily have picked Funintheday2006 as an example of bullying. Wish I had now, because I think he's better able to take care of himself.

I don't intend to post on this subject any more. As I said in my post, my comment was about human behaviour as demonstrated by this current furore, not specifically about this issue.
