Names? What's in a name anyway?

So... Now that I caught your attention. This will NOT be yet another wine and vicodin induced flatus... so relax and have some fun

Anyway, I'm out by the pond after the meeting in San Diego this morning. I'm tossing meal worms to the 22 laconic beauties, literally willing one to come closer to the surface - one of my battered and scarred heron survivors - to little reward.

A few were hand raised from the egg and have been trained to eat from the hand. One is an absolutely gorgeous deep red butterfly koi whom I've named "Momma". She's just finished spawning in the water Lillie's by the way. Last count was one thousand and four eggs, but I imagine she had some help.

So, Momma. That's one name...

Then there one of the two wounded survivors. He really took a severe beating, head squeezed such that his eyes bulged halfway out of the socket. I call him "Igor". The former "6 fish" of the original school.

The other survivor is a small guy, a standard, orange spotted white - with no tail... "Tiny Tim" is his new moniker... He gives swimming all hell for his effort I'd thought this one would surely die. For a week he swam - when he even tried - in jerky circles and mostly just lay on his side on the bottom.

We're still thinking up appropriate names for many of the rest. In time, when we get a feel for their distinct personalities.

lol I just couldn't help myself. There's 22 of them by the way. One even has an "M" on it's side. I'm thinking of Mike for that one...
