The Count down has begun...14 days until W day!

I'm sitting here on my couch shaking my head as I look around the room. My house is in such a mess right now. It is messier then it ever has been. Perhaps, I should explain that. My house is messy but it is clean. The dishes and laundry has been washed, and the bathrooms are clean. To give you a better idea of the state of my house, I will take you on a short tour.

As you walk in the front door you are in my living room. As you glance around you would see about a hundred peach colored roses in boxes in the middle of the living room. In a corner are two more boxes with white lilies in them. Pieces of cut flower parts litter the floor. A petal here, a leaf there, some florist tape crumpled here and some tissue paper there. Stacked up on the couch are baskets of paper cones with rose-colored petals inside them.

If you were to walk down the hallway and glance to the left you would see my bedroom. You might have wondered at the boxes packed and stacked in the corner. You might think that we are moving. But, we are not. As you turn right your heels would click on my polished wooden floors. As you head back to the other bedrooms you would see pictures of my son and daughter on the walls. Also displayed are pictures of my sisters and brothers and their families. Going passed the blue bathroom; the next door is my daughter’s room. I've been trying to keep that door shut but have not been too successful with that because we are in and out of there so much during the day.

As you look through the open doorway I know a gasp would come from your mouth. On the queen sized bed is a flower girls basket, a wedding guest registry book, a cake knife and server, a plumed pen, diamond bobby pins, and necklaces, candy molds for favors, a blue and white garter, a ring bearers pillow, a pair of women’s classy, high heeled dress shoes, 200 printed wedding programs, 200 printed napkins, various other wedding paraphernalia. On the floor along the walls and at the foot of the bed are gifts. There are boxes of Noritaki china place settings, silver wear place settings, stone wear
place settings. Smaller boxes are stacked on top of those. Inside those boxes are crystal wine glasses, and crystal water glasses. Mixed in among those gifts are a griddle, a toaster, a can opener a microwave oven, and several boxes of turners, spatulas and other kitchen stuff. So many people have been generous with their gifts that we have had to box up some of the gifts and put them in my bedroom as well as out in the garage.

On the dresser in this room sit new towels stacked up as well as bed linens. The walk in closet is filled with more gifts and of course the wedding gown and the three petticoats that came with it. On the love seat in the corner are more flowers, 5 bridesmaid’s bouquets, one bridal bouquet, and one throwaway bouquet, 7 boutonnieres and 7 corsages. There is a box next to the love seat and it is filled with the flowers that will mark the pews as reserved for family members.

Now, the tour is complete and you now know why I said my house was a messy disaster. I am sure you have guessed by now, someone in my household is getting married. No, it is not I that is getting married. It is my daughter. June 24th at 6:30 p.m. is the date and time of the wedding. I hope to have some pictures to post in an album after the wedding is over. We are all very excited as we count down the days till the wedding.
It still seems like there is a million and one things left to do any NOT nearly enough time to get it all done.

Need I remind you to not try to pick up any tampons at the church on this day ok Buttery?

Sounds like you'll have a busy week. Remember to savor each moment, spend some time to reflect with your daughter, take her to lunch and relax as much as possible. Don't forget to breathe either.

If you wouldn't mind, Buttery.....please pass all suggestions, ideas, opinions, recommendations or whatever this way. My daughter is 20 and I have a feeling I'll be "where you are" sooner than I might think.

I'll be telling you again I'm sure but...I hope when the day arrives that it is stress free and everything that both you and your daughter want it to be.

Buttery,

Your daughter is a lucky young lady to have you as a mom. Ummmmmmm and did you say PEACH colored roses. If your daughter's colors include peach she has to be my twin....my mother says if I paint one more thing peach in my house she is never coming back ......quick someone bring me some peach paint....lol.

And don't worry about the last minute little things.....sure everyone wants everything to be perfect but my sister in law didn't notice some of her things not being finished once she started walking down the isle to marry my brother. So keep your head up and know we are all sending you some strength.

Yes, fuzzy. I said PEACH colored roses. My daughter loves that color, so you too would get along very nicely. The flowers are peach colored and the bridesmaid dresses are hunter green.

It will all get done. I know that. Thanks for the strength, I am going to need it. And thanks also for your comments.

We bought a book cannon. How to have a Wedding nd not Break the Bank. It was very helpful with plenty of ideas on how to save money.

I too hope for a stress free day on that day.

Thank you for your comments
