I love the thought of an Island.
The idea of known boarders in an unending space, be the space an ocean, or space itself, or just the sea of faces on the street, having a shoreline has comfort.
Perhaps this is a “Big Fish ‒ Little Pond” notion, or just a reassurance that a finite space has a maximum amount of information, and that makes it “all knowable”. It’s hard to say which view holds the appeal, but vast appeal there is.
I am an Island. We are an Island. Our universe is an Island.
