May God Have Mercy On Us All

Nobody here knows us very well, yet. So most of you will probably think I'm nuts. But I am not. And what I am about to post I only do so in the hope that it might motivate at least one person to take advantage of time - to seize the moment - and love someone deeper and better than you ever have before.

If you have friends/loved ones in any way associated with the US military, including retirees, reserves, etc., get together with them NOW for some quality time. Express to them how you really feel about them. Leave nothing unsaid or undone. If you are in the military...active, reserves, or retired...put your house in order and pack a bag. If you have a son, boyfriend, husband, or brother registered with selective service, stop and take a moment and consider the very real possibility of a draft just around the corner. And treat them accordingly.

We are on the brink of a major war. And the US military is preparing itself for a MAJOR conflict. Don't bother asking me how I know. I cannot tell you, but I assure you I am neither an alarmist, nor prone to wild-assed guesses. I am a former intelligence operative for the US gov't with strong, well-placed current contacts in the Mideast who keep me somewhat informed.

Pray for peace. Also pray for victory. This one is SERIOUS.

Yes, I agree it is serious. What is serious is that the US military is in a poorer state of preparation than any time since December 6, 1941. Instead of increasing the size of the military after 9/11 (a rational plan would have been to add 5,000 personnel a month to the active and reserve forces) forces have actually been cut.

Material to fight any conflict is in short supply; the industrial base to fulfill orders has been deliberately degraded and out sourced to select (read campaign contributions/bribes) to states like Isreal and China. The military has been politicized to the nth degree; hacks replace career officers, who are mocked and ridiculed as they are driven from office by draft dodgers and awols.

Like the Iraq fiasco, the coming confrontation with Iran will be utilized to further curtail the liberties of the American people. Reread the assessments of the former head of the Joint Chiefs before Rumsfield and Cheney drove him from office. Or, of Zinni former head of the USMC, who resigned rather than continue to lend credence to the disasterous Bush policies.

Yes, this is SERIOUS. But, not to worry, the nation is bankrupt and we're planning on more tax breaks for the wealthy; OOOPS this communication has been interrupted by the NSA in the interests of NATIONAL SECURITY .

For Bush-bashers, y'all have a very accurate view of what has happened to our military since the "peace dividend" was declared under Bush I and really taken to the extreme under Klinton...and, yes, continued under THIS Administration. For the most part, I have only found folks in or recently retired from the military to have an appreciation of this.

Just so you don't make assumptions...I am not a lock-step Bush supporter, either. And I see a real growing threat to America from the "Bush dynasty." Of course, I see the same thing in the Kennedy clan...except they're on the decline. I have been critical of several recent GWB policies/decisions. But I did vote for the man twice: the first time because I believed him and the second time because he was the lesser of two bad choices.
