Network invitations, emails

Okay, just a question.... how do you feel about network invitations? I send an invitation to anyone I contact but rarely do people accept or decline them. They just stay pending forever. Do people interpret acceptance of an invitation as some sort of obligation to meet? While I would love to meet anyone I send an invitation to, I certainly don't expect it to happen.
Here's another question too. Do standard members realize that they are allowed to respond to emails? I realize that a lot of profiles are fake, but I see a lot of them that say, I am only a standard member, so please leave your email address, etc. But on top of that, I will usually ask for a response to my email, even if it is to tell me they are not interested. That way I can take them off of my hotlist and move on. But it rarely happen that I get a response from even premium members. I know that some people get a lot of messages and it may take too long to respond to all of them, but the site has a handy little option where you can send a quick response. It would only take a second. Oh well, it's not the end of the world, but I see a lot of posts on message boards from new members asking what it takes to make contact on this site. Okay, rant over, if you can call that a rant. I'll try to keep my entries positive from now on, but just needed to get those things off my chest. My next entry may be a little bit of info about myself, since I am totally trying to get more attention drawn to me. Please feel free to give me any feedback on what you think regarding my questions. Thanks!
