Lego: Now With 1% More Black Guy

Rejoice, my funky brothers, you have finally been represented. As some of you may or may not know, I am an overgrown Lego fanatic. I guess I'm pretty good at it too, as my builds are scoring international fame outside of this website. There is a technical acronym for people like me, but drooling geek will suffice.

In my vast dorky collection of lego, I have a lot of figures (or minifigs in lego geek speak) from all walks of life. I have spacemen, firemen, cops and criminals, cowboys and Indians (both Native American and Hindus), princesses, monsters such as Frankenstein and Wolfman, aliens such as Chewbacca, Greedo and Yoda, and I even have gay robots like C-3PO. Still, after all this, I've never had a cool soul brother...until now.

Lego, a corporation founded in Denmark, doesn't seem to know much about other races. They're all blonde haired and blue eyed up there, after all, but it took them releasing a series of NBA sets a couple years back to finally get their 50 year legacy right and even then, the first prototype set had all yellow-skinned minifigs. Now there are a few brothers included in some of the sets, but they are still pretty rare.

I have one in my collection now and just like the one black guy in my high school yearbook, he's pretty easy to find. As he's the only one, he will have to be pulling a lot of extra duty. If I were so inclined, I could have him be Morphius from The Matrix or Cleveland from Family Guy or even rapper DMX. Right now I have him driving a really cool hot rod I built. He's my favorite minifig now. He’s swell.

Pictured to your left is Gary Payton of Seattle Supersonics fame. He is an all-star multi-millionaire athlete and a black guy. Unlike the real basketball player this one stands only one and five eights inches high.

Lego: now with 1% more black guy. Thankfully, they said they will work on getting about 20% more in upcoming years. Maybe finally, and long after their peak, I can then build the remaining members of Wu-Tang Clan without them looking like a bunch of Mormons...minus Ol' Dirty Bastard who's now taking an ol' dirty dirtnap. God rest his ol' dirty soul.

I heard one of my neighbors gets 20% more black guy whenever her hubby is away on business trips. Hey, that gives me an idea as to what to build! I've got big plans for you, little man. Big plans.

_____I was thinking about all kinds of nasty things to say to you, you big Lego freak. Unfoutunately No.1 I'm into StarTrek. I've got several globes with lights and sound, almost every ship put out by Playmates (I've even got the transporter room from Next Generation. It's really cool. It uses mirrors to simulate the disapearing figure.) I have phaseres (both old and new), tricorder, communicator, a Klingon disruptor, Christmas ornimants (accept for the first one, which goes for about $200.00 on E-bay), and I have a stack of Hamilton collector plates from floor to ceiling in my closet worth a few hundred. Unfortunately NO.2 You have a massive amount of talent that you put to creative use building Leggo stuff. I would imagine that you even have a following from your Lego creations alone. It looks like, not only am I in a glass windows are dirty, while yours are so clean that birds break their necks flying into it every day. an underling once said to Khan (from the original series and The Wrath of Khan) "I bow to the superior intellect." (You got any StarTrek Lego?)

_____craptoast, the first Halmark StarTrek ornament was the original TV series Enterprise NCC1701 ,not The Next Generation Enterprise NCC1701D. You thought I was a Piker. Didn't you. Doing me a favor, by selling me an ornament worth $40.00 for $200.00. You are a true gentleman, you are. (I'm pretty sure the Enterprise D is fairly cheap on e-bay. Besides...I already have two; in original packaging. We are just jokoing, right?) For some reason the movie "Forty Year Old Virgin, comes to mind. Oh and someone once said that if you're going to do something, you should do it well. I do Geek well.

OK, I love Lego's! :oint to the a AA program)
In Orlando, Downtown Disney, you can go to the Lego store and build to your heart's content... playing with their toys all day long. Well, there are other things here too, outside of the Lego store, A Blue Bob Marley, A Serpent in the water over looking the pier, and a whole family made out like tourist! (like full sizes too) It's so amazing ... well, for me it is... I'm still in my second childhood.

I think Star Trek might have been before my time ... ? Or maybe it was in my first childhood days? But, it's still a "kewl" show, most all those "gadgets" are now in the real world.
I'm still waiting for the "transporter" to be introduced, I've so many places I want to go.

Kewl kewl AA !!

warm wishes

hot, bothered

I lumped the three of you together because you are all asking the same question. No, the black Lego minifigs are not better endowed than their yellow counterparts, in fact sadly neither are endowed with anything at all...but with a little know how, anything can be built.

As for whether or not our average African-American brother is better endowed in real life than his pasty-skinned friends who can't dance, then I suggest you visit [MrNuttz05] and kindly ask him for his alterate profile photo. Lets just say it was proof enough for me to win a little bar bet I had going on.

skyking...I just knew that about you. I KNEW IT!! Ever since you came around here I could smell star trek coming from your pores.

(puts feet up on desk)

you and all your star trek kind

(opens desk drawer...takes out revolver)

collectors plates, eh?

(takes out box of bullets)

Klingon Disruptor, eh? Crap stacked from floor to ceiling!

(loads six bullets int the chamber)

To answer your questions...yes, I do have talent and yes, you better believe I have a following. For as much views and attention I get on this website, the lego sites scores me about three times more.

(closes chamber and spins it)

And while there are plenty of official star wars sets, there are no official star trek lego sets. Thats because they have determined star wars geeks are better looking. Also, star trek fans, like Vulcans mate about once every seven years if they're lucky...but, in spite of this, there is no shortage of drooling star trek geeks like you who are also lego geeks who have built every version of the Enterprise.

(cocks back hammer)

so many geeks, so few bullets. Now...lets see how that phaser of yours goes up against this. I'd run if I were you.

toast 1 and 2...yes, they have both Lando and Mace Windu. They're very cool minifigs, but they come in huge expensive ugly sets that I don't like. Its all part of a grand conspiracy to keep a brother down...and by brother, I mean me.

skyking again...didn't I tell you to run?

allright, whatever.

(unloads gun...puts it back in drawer)

I don't feel in a shootin' mood today. But be warned...there are plenty of birds in here with broken necks and it has nothing to do with my clean windows.

heh...toast tried to gyp ya...thats funny!

maggie...there is a lego store here, too. Its sooo cool, you can buy sets or lego pieces by the cupfull.

I'm pretty sure they put a chip in my head that gives me an electric jolt whenever I haven't been there in awhile to spend money. I think it goes off about every...

And just to think that I have heard it ALL on this site? (lol)... I would not have believed this one if somebody would have told me... Art, you are magnificent, srew creative... If you can get individuals talking about little minority figurines, you my friend should be in congress. Hell, no one has talked about the people from Hatti in years???

Maybe I chose "Planet Of The Apes" figures unconsciously for the lack of minority figurines... G.I. Joe did come as a black figure as well...

Is it a myth that 'Vulcan' means brotha' in intergalactic terminology?

And finally, Art... I don't think that's Gary Payton... That's 'Chef' from "South Park" dressed up as Gary Payton.... Can't you SEE that? (lol)

This my friend is a classic...

biggirlz...yes, I am completely enamored over my new little brotha. I got big plans for him, but none really included the statutory variety, but thanks for the idea. I think I'll hand a giant clock around his neck and make him be Flava Flav.

MrNuttz...compliment me all you want, but I dig your humor and your writing as well. If we lived closer, we'd definately hang out, except you'd "hang out" better than know.

The old Planet of the Apes lacked racial variety but the new one didn't as Michael Clark Duncan played the big ape...but doesn't he always? G.I.Joe did indeed have black figures and barbie had a sista version of herself as well. (Don't ask how I know this)

I don't think Vulcan means brotha as Vulcans only have sex once every seven years and they do it without any emotion at all...therefore Vulcan really translates to Al Gore.

yes, you're right. I think that is Chef from South Park disguised as Gary Payton. Can't you see him singin' "I wanna make love to you, woman...I wanna lay you down by the fire"

I thank you for discovering me and I sincerely thank you for liking my style. I really appreciate knowing that. But you know what they say, right? Once you go Atomic, you never go back.

Any word on a 2Pac or Kid Frost lego minifig?

The only thing to come out Wu-Tang that was "decent" was MethodMan (Johnny Blaze), so that's no big loss.
