Your opinion

I was having an al fresco lunch today with a friend and the conversation got around ineviatably to meeting people in bars and chatup lines/techniques.

Being under the assumption that the general line of thinking was better not to attempt them, instead be yourself, I was surprised to hear her say that she had recently heard some which would grab her attention.

Naturally I was wanting to run them by you before taking them for a trial run.So what would your responses be to these ladies, or would you use them men:

First up attract her attention by pretending to have problems with your mobile phone (prob best to ensure it is not an 1980s brick.I am sure our residant aussie phone expert can help here ) Then hopefully she will come over and inquire if you are having a problem.
To which you respond "I've lost my number, can I have yours".

Or how about " I want you to have my children........they're in the car outside"

The number thing is way over used and too well known, you will not gain points for originality. The children one is funny and should get her to laugh which is a great way to start a conversation. The best line I ever heard was, this guy walked up to me in a bar and said excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt you but I just had to come and talk to you. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I looked at him like are you for real and he said your married or have a boyfriend don't you? I said yes I did and he said I knew you were taken, you are way too beautiful to be single. He was winning me over immediately. I smiled and said thank you. He walked away reluctantly but not for long, he came back three different times that night to talk to me. He was very sweet. I have become friends with this man, he is in love with me, but realizes he cannot have me. He still says till this day it wasn't a pick up line, I still say it was. We just laugh about it. It definately would have worked for him had I been single at the time.
Good Luck, I still say being yourself is the best way to get a girls attention, you don't need a line to start a conversation with someone. Try just asking them about their day or how they are. Tell them how beautiful they look tonight(not how sexy).

With one fell swoop the guillotine crashed down, and took those words, head , tongue, and all to an early grave. It back to being myself and asking them if they fancy a kebab and a shag.

I think I'd rank those two right along with the old standby "nice shoes, wanna fuck?"

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

WOW I LOVE this one!!!

yea, not a good pick up line. I like lots of eye contact and little smiles, and knowing I'm being watched. That gets me every time. Looks can say a million words. After a while, it's just natural to start a conversation. You have a feel of what the other wants, by the look in their eyes
