When Jesus and his disciples were on their way to Jerusalem, 25 an expert in the Law of Moses went up and tested Jesus with a question: "Teacher, what deed must I do to have eternal life?" 26 Jesus answered, "What does the Law of Moses say? How do you understand it?" 27 The expert replied, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind,' and also, 'Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.'" 28 Jesus said to him, "You have given the right answer. Keep doing this and you will live." 29 But the expert wanting to make himself look good asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" 30 Jesus answered with a story:

A man was going down the mountain road from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by a gang of robbers who stripped him of everything, beat him up, and ran off, leaving him half-dead. 31 By chance a priest was going down that road. But when he saw the man, he went by on the other side. 32 In the same way a temple official came along. When he saw the man , he also went by on the other side. 33 Then a foreigner from Samaria traveling along that road happened upon the man, and when he saw him, he was filled with compassion 34 and went to help. He treated his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. He put him on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. 35 The next morning he paid the innkeeper and said, "Take care of this man, and if it costs more than this, I will pay you when I return." 36 Then Jesus asked, "Which one of these three people do you think acted like a neighbor to the man who was attacked by the gang of robbers?" 37 The expert answered, "The one who acted with compassion." Then Jesus said to him, "You go and do the same."

This in itself needs no explaination. It is a lesson we all should live by.

I am not one to preach to people and I will not go into my beliefs here.It isnt the right place. However I am angry and these are the best words I can think of to get my message across.

A good friend was attacked this weekend. That I could come to terms with. What I couldnt is the fact that people walked by as he was lying on the ground having been hit repeatedly with a chisel.Thankfully he is ok and should recover fully with time.

We all have to share this planet. It really is important to

'Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.'"

Im off to cool down a bit

Seems like the perfect place to explain your beliefs.
(Taker fumbling through mounds of paper) I know it has to say something somewhere in the book about speaking the word of God and thinking like a missionary versus preaching to the converted...
prayers for a speedy recovery for the chisel-wounded...

OMG.. that is never okay. I can't understand that people didn't help after the beating.
I'm glad he's going to recover.

Just to update you he is recovering well. The bruises are healing.I have talked to him everyday since. You are right in that the mental scars may take longer.

It is one thing not to seek revenge and another to contain the anger. But I know you are right and no good comes of it.It doesnt stop the way I feel though.

It is heartening to see that others feel as I do.I can only hope that we are in the majority. If this post has caused but one person who might have walked by to think again then that is enough.
