I've never seen this American TV programme, but Americans mention it in every film or TV show they make.

Please pay attention America : no-one's heard of it outside turtle island, and no-one’s interested in it either.

I might be a little more tolerant if Americans were capable of transferring a British sitcom to their screens without changing the cast and removing references to anything the average man on the street in Poughkeepsie might not understand.

I watch a lot of American sitcoms, and over the years, I have picked up a few bits and pieces. for instance, 'fanny' means 'ass', 'sidewalk' means 'pavement' and 'Eurotrash' means 'stylish foreigner'.

Why the hell can’t they do the same with our programmes? It’s not hard.

See the question is would you do Merryanne or Ginger.
My self was a Merryanne man.
Black Adder is so funny , Benny Hill reruns are great but my other doesn't like me watching it with the youngins in house.

"Coupling" rules!
It just took me a little while to figure out that pants and panties are the same thing. LOL
What the hell happened to Jeff?
I sincerely hope you never saw the American version of it. Bad, very bad.

Most of the time when we attempt to translate a British comedy for American audiences, it's a frightening effort. We had a mercifully brief version of ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. What was so hard to understand 'bout the original? Two older women still over-partying and living in the past while thinking they're terribly au courant.

See them everyday 'round here.

dysgyzed - don't forget The Young Ones, although I suspect that it might never have made it to your shores. I'm ashamed to say that Friends is still my all time favourite.

amrock - I thought it was Maryanne, but whatever, she is cute

spin - I love Coupling, and no I never saw the American version fortunately, although I always thought of it as the English version of Friends anyway. The episode where Jeff has a wooden leg cracks me up every time I watch it. And Jeff came back as a woman at the end.

BB - and The Office? The original was brilliant, why didn't you just take that instead of trying to Americanise it?

Your Majesty, re the Office, I comparison. And there's nothing in the original that can't be understood by Americans. After all, 99.9 percent of us at some point have worked for a jerk!
