Saying it and living it are two different things

Hey, everyone! Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog. I really just have a question to post.

Are men intimidated by a direct, intelligent, self-sufficient women?

Almost all of the guys I know talk about the fact that these are qualities that they want from a women, but they end up dating women who are actually passive, take on the opinions of the men they are around, and co-dependent. I'm just wondering if the men are settling, or if they just want those things, but are afraid to be honest about admitting it.

Hey Aerochick, dein Decollete ist sehr vielsagen weiblich.. natürlich haben manche Angst vor direkten und selbstbewußten Frauen.. der besondere Genuss liegt eher darin, sich in seiner Stärke zu messen, oder.. Zeig mir, was du drauf hast..

I love intelligient, self sufficient women . The ones that I can't stand are the clingy, needy and attention whores. I can't stand those 'princess' types either. They make me wanna fucking puke. I think that aggressive and ambitious women are really hot! {=}

I doubt I could settle for someone that was just going to agree with everything I said and done. I need someone that is going to stand up to me, someone that I can bounce ideas off, someone who is passionate able top listen but hold her ground. However love is a strange beast and sometimes we don't know what we want until we find it.

There is no answer to your question because we are all different and seek different qualities in our friends. If 'almost all of the guys' you know say one thing and do another, that is telling me that you need to explore your selection criteria in men.

oh... and be careful of what you wish for... there are some homeless men who would love to be taken care of by a direct, intelligent, self-sufficient woman! lol Take care of yourself and enjoy Blogville!

Not intimidated at all. I think there is a tendancy for women... even ones who fall into the category you describe to evolve into being more dependent and passive. I think part of this is societal roles and I think some of it is biology and the role of the mother nature creates. I met my wife as a fellow technologist in a research center. She was smarter than me for sure... but made choices and sacrafices along the way. I don't think that makes her weak. But we made choices along the way as a team.
