I support this one! My grandmother is a survivor, having had a mastectomy in the 70's. I wear my gold "Breast Cancer" ribbon on my lapel with pride and to show my support, and donate when I can - even in a small way.
And remember folks, men can get breast cancer, too!!!

Thank you for all you do as a cancer research nurse. Mom fought cancer for eleven years, passed in 85. I first got a reality check about prostate cancer when "Michael Milken", the Junk Bond King was diagnosed during a routine check when he was in his 40's. I had just turned 40 when he got his diagnosis. Since cancer is in my family I've been "DEMANDING" my doctor to test me every year since my 40th birthday. You'll be surprised how many times I've been told not to get tested because I took the test the year before.

I promote Breast Cancer Awareness too. I am getting to an age when many of my friends are being diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, most of them were diagnosed early and survived. I lost one friend in July who had fought the breast cancer battle for 5 years.

I am sorry to hear about your friends. At my job, two young medical assistants, early 30's and 40's, died the same year due to breast cancer. Good to see you!

What Causes Would You Support?
I've worked for a number of years for non-profit organizations, so I've supported quite a few over the years. I'm currently trying to get back into school so that I can continue working in the non profit community. One day I'd love to run a Community Development Corporation.
Of course I support Breast Cancer, the ASPCA and a few other organizations like that.
The only thing I HAVE to do is eat, shit, and die. Everything else is a choice.

Good luck finding funding for the community based organization. The way the economy is going, more funding cuts coming our way!

Due to the nature of my work, I am able to work very closely with this cause. I do the Breast Cancer Walk every year, and contribute to breast cancer awareness throughout the year. I am involved in various projects on small and grand levels specifically regarding Breast Cancer Awareness. This is so important, early detection is possible, and although there is no cure, treatment is amazingly advanced, any time is a great time to remind your loved ones to get screened, go together...
thanks Kofla for the Blog.

A few years back I worked at Brigham and Woman's Hospital. One day I changed my normal routine and stepped out the back door. To which I walked smack dab right into the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I was literally God smacked because about 30 or so children were boarding a bus to take something of a field trip. These children were all riddled with cancer. I remember the joy on there faces as they were getting a furlough from there normal routines. I'm avid giver to this hospital. Matter of fact I've written a blog on something that took place during the Eagles/Pats pre-season game. I urge all to give to The Jimmy Fund Benefiting this hospital. It's the Red Sox major charity (Yankees fans, George Steinbrenner has given $25,000 a year to this).
I also give to M.S. because my grandfather had it. By they way why do we even have to deal with breast cancer doesn't everyone that's somebodies mom or sister that has it? Hasn't this gone a tad too long? Let's rid this thing.
Thanks because I'm now changing my blog signature because of it
