SITE CHANGE – My Time Here May Be Limited Now

As you may or may not know the site has changed what a non-paying (Standard) member can do. Until today a Standard Member could read incoming messages and reply to them. We just could not initiate a conversation. Now we can no longer even read an incoming message.

I was paying member for a while when I first logged on, but it was not worth the price since actually meeting women is a very difficult thing to actually do. In my case the reasons were; not many women here from my area (closest city is 100 miles away). I imagine that distance was part of the reason I received very few responses to the embarrassingly high number of messages I sent just to get a few responses.

Women have contacted me since I stopped paying but now I cannot respond to a paying member who might want to talk to me – or any other standard member. This makes their decision a disservice to paying members too.

I won’t pay for this for those reasons and because of the security issues here and now this.

To anyone I may not have responded to . . . now you know why.

UPDATE: This is a bit weird and possibly sexist. I can read messages from some, but not all guys, but not any women. So women who are “Full” members cannot contact the men they may choose to.

 Just a few days ago AdultFriendFinder changed it to where a standard member got 20 IMs, just like before. But today I log in and find that it is now back to 5! What is going on here? Do they just change things on a daily basis so they can piss people off? Not to mention the times parts of the site do not work. And never an explanation or a global note to the members to let them know. No wonder people are leaving the site. Glad I never became a paying member.

 Yesterday, in the BBW room, a standard male member said he was able to receive and reply to mail, as of a couple days ago. So we tested it out. I sent mail to him...he was on my friends network...he was able to receive and to respond to my mail.
Then I sent mail to a standard male member not on my friends network. he was not able to read nor reply to my mail.
So I friended the second guy, sent him another mail. He still could not read nor reply to my mail. We are going to try this last test again today to see if the system just needed overnight to recognize he is now in my friends network.

When this shit all came down a couple weeks ago, we did this same test and no standard male could reply to my messages...didn't matter if they were in my friends network or not.

So this might be a glitch, might be a change partly back to the way it was and, it may be that they are still testing the system...i was told that was why some ppl could respond while others could not, with no rhyme or reason.

Will keep you updated.

There are differences in what males can do vs females. There are differences in what friends can do vs fans. See my post on some of what I found on that: More Email Situation Info Then add in that there can be glitches. There are always glitches. Like you said no rhyme or reason. I’m standard and can reply to fans but not to someone who is a friend only.

I use the private box now more than I did with the message center. Hopefully local women will see my link to that box in my profile to contact me.

 Like VM said...put it in your status bar how ppl can contact you ie via your blog...then set up a spot on your blog where ppl can post but only you can read. Chat back and forth that way, the way you used to via mail.

 I was a paying Gold for a while, Just find that having it all was it really helping me out on here.Being a standard member really sucks I say.I will not support this site through fees and such till they play more fair.

 i agree and they use to have other membership options now its all gold and starts at 20 a month. and even if you have your account with them and a paying member you can go back to standard membership and they hardly ever try to get you to be a full member again. Theyve made it where most who sign up are gonna just delete there account.

 Congrats to AdultFriendFinder!! They have succeeded in creating a caste system by limiting standard members IM chat invites to (5) as well as making the E-mail limited. Just a brilliant move!! In one decisive move they have significantly reduced the chances of the paying Gold Members to “Hookup”. Makes sense to limit the standards to the point there can be no meaningful communication with the Gold Members. Nice pitch to sell that lowly Standard Member a “Gold Membership”. The “Icebreaker” readable E-mail is so limited that there is not much room to get any meaningful communication going with the other party before it goes blurred. So now that your “Icebreaker” E-mails are limited, what is one to do? Two options. “Oversell yourself and come off entirely too strong or like a desperate psycho?” or “Buy Gold”. Most people tend to want to chat someone up before meeting or anything of the kind. One would think this would apply to Standard and Gold Member alike. I would think Gold Members would be infuriated at this reduction in their chances to meet a match.

Once was a time when there were three memberships, Gold, Silver and Standard. Selling point was “Get Gold” get “unlimited play”. Silver? Not so much. Little more than half the cost of Gold as I remember. Standard? You could reply to E-mail and invite to chat up to (20) times. There is no median now. Get Gold or else!!!

The chat invite is just fabulous by the way. Now limited to (5) chat invites, the good ole Standard Member gets (5) chances to invite that random AdultFriendFinder mobile app that “said recipient” forgot to log out of. Better yet “said recipient” loses signal, restarts their phone or the app crashes. Responsibility? Standard Member with (5) count them (5) chat invites tossed in the wind. I would say severely limited IM chat for standards really may inconvenience the Gold Members and restrict their chances for a suitable match. Once again the paying Gold Members should be infuriated.

If one is a current Gold Member it may appear that you are in the proverbial “catbird seat” of the site. Merely until the re-inventors of the wheel discover “Platinum” or another equivalent as the higher standard.

I have been a member on this site for some time and often thought but declined paying for membership because of many issues. Over the years the site has had many a problem from slow servers, lost pictures, deleted and negatively enhanced profiles from hacks, bots and prostitute advertising. Makes me want to just run out and pony up one of my credit cards. Has to be great identity security right? Not to mention the runaround of cancelling the Gold Membership if the person is not satisfied with the product. We have all seen different members lament over not being able to cancel the membership from time to time. To be fair some of the people that opted for the “Gold Membership” need that money for other things in their life. It should not be a hassle to get their memberships cancelled ever.

The guarantee of “more action”? How so? Can AdultFriendFinder guarantee that if I pay there will be more suitable candidates? I think not. Rather like AdultFriendFinder is reducing the “gene pool” of the site significantly. Definitely a great way to push away the Gold Members by leaving them with limited choices of whom to correspond with. Excellent marketing plan!!! Not!!!
