Sheltered piece of mind.

I took a walk today in the woods behind my house. The trees are nearly lifeless and baron of leaves but the light rain trickling through the outstretched branches soothed my soul. I became soaking wet through the short journey but the benefit to my soul was worth the chill.

I walked over patches of snow and wet leaves that sank beneath my slow moving weight. The Grey sky was endless but settled, the trees groaned with the light winds as I continued.

Water ran down my bare arms and off the brim of my black ball-cap. My hands were cold but not uncomfortable, my eyes surveyed the world around me as I wandered aimlessly through the branches and rocks until I cleansed my soul of distress and frustration.

For a moment, only a brief moment, a sheltered piece of mind wrapped around my soul and let me feel again, feel myself again. I returned from the forest a better man and better person.

see ya.

It brings warmth to my heart to see you back here and writing...you needed it. And to hear that you are finally finding peace.

This is lovely. The woods do the same thing for me. Especially when I am alone in them.

Some people work around their psychological demons. We harness ours up and take them out for a ride. (Taken from the book, Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns)
