 This kind of made me laugh when I thought about it. The old bf wants to take off again this week, go to Wisconsin or some shit, drive around the backroads, sleep at Motel 6's..."get away". Get away from what I think...he's retired for Pete's sake. I might bring the pooch back to my house this time if he does.

But anyway, I was thinking, when he used to want to get away, he'd say, "Can you get off and go with me?" Now I babysit the dog while he goes and we're both ok with that. Funny stuff, relationships that deteriorate but still connect in other ways.

 My ex still comes by now and then; he helps me with moving stuff or small repairs, and I cook him dinner or let him do his laundry here. It's very different for me to remain friends with an ex. It feels good.

I've become much better at remaining friends with a lover as I've gotten older. Really, unless there was a tragic breakdown, there's no reason not to.

 Life changes track and sometimes it takes a while for us to realise that ... but you know what .. I figure thats okay. It only becomes an problem when you see it as one ...until then enjoy your time with the pooch. I love my girly pooch ... sometimes I think do I do on a "hot date" or stay home "daggy clothes on, good wine, dvd and my dog" ---- Dog and wine seems to be winning most times these days .... (thank god she cant talk she knows all of my secrets) ..xxx
