Was That Movie That Great?

I didn't think it was that great a movie (not that I am an expert, I haven't been to a movie since 1988 ), but if you mention the name "Ferris Bueller" everyone knows who you're talking about.

Is it that Matthew Broderick is so unforgettable? Is it that we see something of ourselves in the movie (or something we wish we had)? Is it the music (especially Yello and The English Beat)?

What a time sink... but it is still fun.

Hey 49,

I never understood why that movie was considered great and it catapolted Matthew into fame. Now it is always on as if it's a cult movie. I couldn't relate to the movie. Perhaps because I couldn't see myself as anyone of the characters.
I lived a very sheltered life and did not test things out nor pushed my boundaries nor had I the desire to do so. I was an old soul. I thought I was going to get older soon enough why not enjoy the moment of little or no responsibilities.
Having said that my older sibling was like Matthew in character. Defied authority and pushed her boundaries with little care for anyone. Perhaps she taught me a lot that by watching her act in such a careless and irresponsible manner was not a better choice for me.
Just my thought. I know many who just think that movie is great. So what do I know hehehe.
