Years ago when the Internet was young, and dinosaurs ruled the Earth, there was a form of chat called Internet Relay Chat (IRC). I first came across it in the late 1980's, and at the time, there were only a few hundred chatters. IRC still exists, but now there are thousands of IRC networks.
A lot of the chat slang and emoticons we see today originated there. Unlike the chats we see here on AdultFriendFinder, gender was not easily identified, and so it was common that people would ask about gender when chatting in a channel. Now, I am not the best typist, but I do OK, and I got a little annoyed with people would insist on using shorthand instead of actually typing out the words. So, when people asked about gender, they would type:
R U M or F?
It seems to me that it is almost the same amount of work to type:
Are you male or female?
So my way of getting back was this:
AKDaisy: R U M or F?
I can't help it... I am a smart-ass sometimes.
