"Wet Cleanup on Aisle Four!"

The term "pick-up" is so... tacky. It implies so much, and this really isn't what I mean when I ask the question... but I am curious if the grocery store is really that great a place to meet women?

A few weeks back I wrote a blog about sunglasses, and how they are a great screen for someone (me) to use when you want your eyes to wander around the scenery undetected. As often as not (at least in the summer) you'll see me around the grocery store with my sunglasses on; in part because I forget I have them on when I walk in, but often as a way to scope the landscape.

[Look at all of these sneaky allusions here! I must be feeling guilty.]

I think I have the looking part down. But I would love to hear from people about their success or lack thereof, of meeting people in the grocery store. I don't really mean pick-up... I mean, make a date. I am pretty good on a date, but I suck at the meeting and asking part.

Have you any war stories?

well, i dont know about picking anyone up in a grocery store, but the produce section has all the bananas and melons, only thing is you'd have to travel over to the bakery to get your buns... lol

At my grocery store, the bakery and the produce are right next to each other....

I once had a guy try to pick me up in the produce section.

Not my type...

Whatever ya do......don't use the line "Nice melons". LOL Seriously, I had some guy say that to me in the produce section. I wasn't sure how to react so I laughed. I figured if he had the nerve to come up and say something like THAT, that surely he'd have a sense of humor and laugh too. I still wonder what he expected me to say or do. Saying "thank you" would have made me felt presumptuous, because what if he WERE talking about the melons on the shelf? Had I said, "They sure are", that could go either way, but I was too shocked to think of that at the time. LOL
