A LONG WEEKEND

A LONG WEEKEND

It’s Easter weekend. For me, it’s a long weekend revelling in doing nothing or at least doing nothing that is planned. I’m not religious but I will always enjoy a public holiday or two. I don’t quite understand why the Easter weekend has not get set dates – surely, Jesus Christ died on a crucifix and was resurrected on specific days?

Having waited forlornly all day for an Easter Egg to be delivered to my door, I cannot post a photo of an Easter Egg I’m about to devour. Instead, please accept some Playboy Bunnies sitting next to George Best and a golden egg recently laid by a penguin on All Fools' Day.

Did you or will you do anything special this Easter weekend?
Did you receive an Easter Egg (or equivalent)?
Can anyone explain why Good Friday and Easter Sunday do not fall on the same days each year?

George Best once said: “I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.” For more on the legendary footballer, see GEORGE BEST. I hope everyone's having a great weekend regardless of Easter or not.

Spunk nothing really happening here either except having some friends over for dinner tonight. I did get my apple tree I been looking for and now just finish off my green house pots ready to plant very soon. Busy week again for me next week! Have a great Easter..

I am just home from the family dinner.....and will spend the evening later with a friend.

Easter is a moveable feast because it is celebrated on the Sunday immediately after the Paschal Full Moon which I think has nothing to do with any calendars but something to do with the first full moon after the Spring Equinox.

I did cook a meal for 18..if you call that special!! Plus spent every day and evening in church. I did get a 1# solid chocolate bunny that i bought myself and the grandchildren!
The days change because it has something to do with passover and the moon. This year, the Orthodox Easter and yours were the same date, but most times it is a week later. Every few years, like last year, it was May 5th...4 or 5 weeks later that yours. The good thing about having it after yours, like our Christmas, is we get great deals on chocolate and candy!

Thanks for your explanation of how Easter falls the way it does. It does seem a little mystical given that Christmas Day is 25 December.

Yep, one of those holidays based on a lunar calendar. Since the Moon cycle is every 28 days, vs the 28/30/31 day months, the calendars are not in sync.

I'm not a Christian, so it's just another Sunday for me.
I'm not a Christian either but it does seem a little strange that a Christian festival follows a lunar calendar, don't you think?

A bacon and tomato sandwich sounds much better than chocolate any day.

I'm pleased you bought yourself a chocolate bunny for all what you did last weekend.

I only do the celebration if I have someone to buy easter choc treats for or anticipate receiving them. This year, no celebration, no choccies, no fun so spent a huge amount of the long weekend curled-up on the sofa, watching cartoons... Ate pizza, ate Turkish delight, ate lasagne, ate cheesecake and also ate nachos... Actually, i take that back about no fun.

Missed my friends in blogland though due to my credit drying up and having no money to buy a recharge until I could get to the bank which was closed from last Friday until this Tuesday due to the long weekend.
The most important thing now is that you're back!

I can't make the same mistake again, but I'm understanding that he brings sex toys and chocolate! He's a very thoughtful Easter Bunny!
