There are a number of songs that have influenced me as a bass player, but in particular I remember Poco's "In the Heart of the Night" when I was in the deep south in early March with a light rain coming down, walking with a beautiful lady after drinking at a jazz bar. The night never ended in my memory.

THE TREES, by RUSH. RUSH has written many songs that tell a true story throughout. You need to really listen to the message The Trees tells a story how the strong and mighty aren't always the ones to win or get ahead. It was very inspirational to me as a young man growing up.

Besides being an excellent song from a musical perspective, the song delivers a message of love, acceptance, and letting one's emotional walls down.

I have a blog like this on my page....
One of the songs that means a lot to me is "Days" by The Kinks.
The lyrics are as follows:

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I'm thinking of the days,
I won't forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that lights on you believe me.
And though you're gone,
You're with me every single day, believe me.

Days I'll remember all my life,
Days when you can't see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me,
But it's all right,
Now I'm not frightened of this world, believe me.

I wish today could be tomorrow,
The night is dark,
It just brings sorrow, let it wait.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I'm thinking of the days,
I won't forget a single day, believe me.

Days I'll remember all my life,
Days when you can't see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me,
But it's all right,
Now I'm not frightened of this world, believe me.
Days.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I'm thinking of the days,
I won't forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that shines on you believe me.
And though you're gone,
You're with me every single day, believe me.
Days.

The song works for me on multiple levels, and it's just a beautiful homage to those who have had an impact on my life.

So many to choose from

It's My Life - Bon Jovi
Final Countdown - Europe - I used to listen to this song before every hockey game I played
American Pie - Don McLean
Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams
Sullivan - Caroline Spine - I'm a history buff and this song tells the story of the Sullivan brothers in WWII
Jump - Van Halen - First time I ever heard this I was hiking the white mountains and it was blaring from the top of a mountain
Paradise by the Dashboard Lights - Meat Loaf
Master of Puppets - Metallica - Reminds me of an ex whose life was centered around cocaine. Gee some reason she left when I told her what I thought about her excessive use.
One Night in Bankok - Murray Head
Sister Christain - Night Ranger - Reminds me of another ex who I shouldn't have let get away
Hells Bells - ACDC - Used to argue this one alot with my friends when it came out. They didn't believe me when I told them the bell tolled 13 times.

Well that was longer than I intended and I'm sure I missed even more.

Spicy,

You know damn well that as a musician, I would have waaaaaay too many to choose from! I'd have to put some serious thought into this, but would probably change my mind 2 days later.

Music & sex are my drugs of choice, and both evoke emotions and feelings of the time & person I was with. Honey... There are too many to choose form for too many reasons! How was that for a vague answer?

All I know is what ever We are listening to when we finally meet, will be another song that will bring up an exciting and pleasurable memory!

beautiful by eminem. The song is off his new cd relapse. One of my new favorites. The lyrics are awesome. We all have to walk in the shoes god gave us.Some do better than others.I believe if you are true to yourself and know who you are life is good.We must all learn and grow as a person from the mistakes we make in our lives. The mistakes and growing is a never ending process. As long as you are true to yourself and keep growing as a person.Life is a beautiful journey.I live it to the fullest every day.Remember laughter is the key to a long life.Just my opinion.

Barry White had some great songs. Michael Jackson R.I.P. also had great songs. I love Phil Collins - Tonight, Tonight, In the air tonight and One more night.

When I was in college (late 70's) the Rocky Horror Picture Show played on campus every week. A special girl and I went at least six times with the best intentions to see the whole thing. Two things I remember was the song Time Warp and I still haven't seen most of the movie

I have to also add a song here. He was a great personal friend. A but whacky at times, even shot me in the leg with a BB gun he swore that was an accident lol.
The song is, "I go crazy" I dedicate this to his love for life, music, and his spirit. Last time I saw him was 7 yrs ago, he was picking up 50# of steamed shrimp, for a huge lake party. I do miss my crazy friend. We lost him way too soon,as alot of those great writers and singers. Spicy!
