Terms of Service... a piece for discussion

fom Terms of Serrvice...

D) Various, Inc.will investigate and take appropriate legal action in its sole discretion against anyone who violates this provision, including without limitation, removing the offending communication from the site or service and terminating the membership of such violators. The following is a partial list of the kind of content that is illegal or prohibited on the site - it includes content that: is patently offensive to the online community, such as content that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual; harasses or advocates harassment of another person or invades their privacy; involves the transmission of "junk mail", "chain letters," or unsolicited commercial e-mail or "spamming"; promotes information that you know is false, misleading or promotes illegal activities or conduct that is abusive,

There is reason to believe I am not the only one who may have violated the terms of service. Again, this is a copy/paste, but it is for educational discussion... so let us discuss.

Sometimes, I wonder why we try our best to regulate things and we just do not let thing be and let nature takes its course. One of the best things about the web is this kind of freedom. After all, whatever happens in here is bound to be someone typing something. It is not all that serious so that we need to contract to finest detail what we can do and what we cannot. I do agree however that we should try our best not to spread any ideas of haterd, racism or any negative stuff. We are all here to enjoy the possiblities this wonderful channel is there to offer. Don't be too serious gal and take it easy. Bux

Hi 2ofusfor3

The snippet of the terms of service is very broad, but (as a website owner and opperator), I can see why they have been written that way.

It's the owner's choice to enforce the rules, so they make them as broad as they can to give themselves (and their lawyers) plenty of room to move if necessary.

This allows them to ignore minor infractions if no-one complains, but to come down hard and fast if someone does. So, as long as you stick to the "spirit of the terms" you will have more slack and be unlikely to get into trouble.

All in all I think it is a reasonable price to pay to have a service like AdultFriendFinder, assuming that the owner is reasonable (which seems to be the case).

Lets face it they are just covering their own asses and justifying how they control any referance to other sites of services.

It sucks, but then again we all have the option to say fuck them and leave, we obviously choose not to do that.
