Need your opinion please.

Some people would have me believe that that the world ... the United States... as we know it, will be coming to an end.

I was wondering if I could get some comments on that. It would really be appreciated.

I think with the changes going on in the world such as glogalization, the emergence of China, the development of third world countries and as Europe continues to unify; we will find ourselves challenged to remain the undisputed world's leader. I also can't see the world as a whole being a saver place when (not if) countries like North Korea and Iran and others like them achieves nuclear capabilities.

The world ends when you cease to exist. After that it only matters to those who are alive. The United States of America has always been in a state of change. It has to. We can't stand still because the world changes around us. We must change to meet the needs of change. If we spend our lives with worry about it ending it will end. If we spend our lives doing whatever we can to make it last, it will last. What we do as a Nation is NOT dependent on other countries, disputes, wars, etc. What we do depends on what we want to do.

The United States will lead to the destruction of the world...

The United States functions identically to what the Holy Bible depicts as the "Anti-Christ". If you know anything about the anti-christ and the prophecies around it then you would understand what I mean.

loyaltyandhonor, the world is people. The United States is people. If the United States were leading the world toward this path of destruction its because people FAILED to lead it in another direction. If it functions as the anti-christ it is the people who act this way. I don't act this way. My friends don't act this way. The people I voted for don't act this way. Let us lay blame where it belongs IF in fact it belongs. Lets look at those who sit complacent expecting others to take this to task.

So what are you doing to lead us not into temptation?

2ofusfor3: The world as we know it, you speak of the U.S., but here too we have been seeing changes taking place over the past several years. It seems that governments in both countries have changed for the worse. The average person is being squeezed more & more everyday to fulfill the greed of a system gone awry.
Governments & big business have formed a coalition that seems to parralell France prior to the French Revolution, Rome under Nero, or Russia under the czar.
I was always told that history teaches us lessons for the future, yet we fail to see & react to the warning signs.
I don't think that it is the end of the world, but it may be the beginning of a new world, one in which we focus on the problems at home, the return to a democratic process where all have an equal input as to the quality of life & a concerted effort to strengthen our places in the world.
We need political leaders that have the vision to see that we are more than taxation resources for their follies but oppressed peoples pushed to the limits to provide a lifestyle to the wealthy & powerful.
I believe in democracy, but somewhere along the way those that are in charge have corrupted, & pillaged with reckless abandon to serve a few. I only worry that the repercussions may be ugly.
