Men look older with beards and mustaches

Come on guys, you have a great face, why cover it with beards and mustaches? In all honesty it makes you look older than you are. If you're over say 45 years old you should consider no facial hair, it adds years to your face.

Hi AeroBabe and welcome to Blogville!

I have to agree with you on this one. While I do like a stylish, but extremely well groomed mustache and goatee on the occasional man, some men. . .well, it's just not a good look for them!

Good to have you here with us!

particularly when the beard comes in with more gray than my hair!

With my genetic dispositon towards baldness, my moustache (which stays neatly trimmed) is my only affectation toward hair (other than that which is on my chest). Previous lady friends found it amusingly ticklish when we kissed, I nuzzled her neck, or got between their legs and licked their furry pussies.

This mustache has been helping me get beer since I was 16 (when the legal age was 21)! My mustache, he's like my wingman! And you never leave your wingman.

Welcome to Blogland!

I understand your attachment to your "wingman", if it's that important to you then by all means do what makes you happy!! I am not out to change anyone here, just offering some friendly advice.

Well, lets see. I started a beard because a girl I liked, liked guys with beards. No it didn't help me with her.Lol. I kept it because it made me look ...older. I'm down to just a goatee and mustache and yes the gray there adds moore age than the gray in at my temples. It does however change the shape of my face/jaw line ...so I'm caught in a vanity struggle between the two. lol. Jes

I am sure you have a wonderful face, don't be afraid to show it. If you don't like it you can always grow back your goatee and mustache. Sometimes change is a good thing!! LOL.

I've had the beard for 29 years now. It started as an alternative to the 3 o'clock shadow, and has stayed with me. If I wear a red shirt near Christmas, I'm sometimes mistaken for Santa Claus (not that I'm THAT chubby). It's nice to not have to shave every morning. I just get it trimmed when I get the rest of the hair cut.

Hey Spacecadet561 or should I say Santa?

I guess if you want to look like Santa all year long go for it!! LOL.

Personally, it depends on the man. Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean...definitely a hottie! On the other hand, Sean Connery...I wouldn't kick him out of bed either! i guess it's a choice but I have to agree that some men should get rid of it.

Johnny Depp is a hottie no matter what, but he's also young.....LOL. Those younger guys!! hehe.

I shaved the moustache once 10 years ago or so and thought I looked like a little kid...and after all these years, it felt too weird...like some part of me was missing. I did shave the goatee. It had way too much white in it and you couldn't see it at all. Come to think of it, I grew a moustache in like 69, right about the time I started riding bikes. By the time I got the 73 Sporty (which I rode till 9 I had a full 'stache, long hair and enough women to think it was fun. Since I still ride, though now a full dresser, it's like a youthful fantasy to keep the moustache. Does it make me look old? Probably. Does it remind me of some wilder days? You bet. And, I probably won't wind up attracting women as I did 30 years ago...so, I guess the memories will work out. sanddriver06 on the y.

Maybe all of this is just my attraction to clean shaven men....I suppose if I fell in love with a guy and he decided to grow hair on his face I would still love him.

I don't want memeories of my past to keep me going. I am who I am now, not who I was then. I look forward to every day and try new exciting things. The past is the past....some fun, some not so fun. I need exctiment now. LOL.

I really understand the need for excitement now!!!! I'm trying to decide where to ride next Saturday...I feel like a good get away ride...maybe an overnighter to some little motel, some company would make it all that much better.

Hello Aero thank you for pointing this out about beards, facial hair, and greyness . My ex-husband when we met was clean shaven loved that even where it counts. The years have gone bye and he grew a beard and it was wild! grew thick and fussy (I d it and he wouldnt shave it off) ; however, it started looking dirty and flaky total turn off and the wiskers would hurt when we kissed, they would give me razor burn on my cheeks, and as for going down it would make his beard smell awfull after word if he did not wash it real!! good and everyone at work would be able to smell my on him this was embarasseing for me when people would say how'd it go last night big time huh with a wicked smile . I loved my husband dont get me wrong but my wild life with my ex was my private thing at least I thought it was. anyway I have always liked a clean shaved face just like these guys out hear like a clean shaved right works both ways, but as for midmaleman said he felt his mustache was wilde because he rode his motorcycle thats great! would like to see his mustache and maybe his sporty bike to try them both see what they 'r like charlene.

Razor burn and having a smelly beard doesn't sound like much fun. Not to mention much fun for people around him.........

YOU'RE RIGHT. I GREW MY FIRST MUSTACHE AT FIFTEEN. MY HAIR WAS SOOO! BLOND, NO ONE KNEW I EVEN HAD IT UNTIL THEY GOT UP CLOSE. I GREW MY FIRST BEARD AT AGE 29 BECAUSE I NEEDED TO DO A PRECEPTOR SHIP IN OB/GYN AND WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL OBSTETRICIANS THAT I WAS TOO GOOD LOOKING AND TOO YOUNG LOOKING, SO THEY TURNED ME DOWN .... THEY SAID THEY FELT THE WOMEN WOULD OBJECT TO MY EXAMINING THEM AND DOING THEIR GYN EXAMS. THE FIRST OBSTETRICIAN I INTERVIEWED WITH *AFTER I GREW THE BEARD* ACCEPTED ME FOR THE PRECEPTOR SHIP I NEEDED TO COMPLETE MY PROGRAM. THE BEARD HID MY "DIMPLES" AND IT MADE ME LOOK OLDER. I GROW ONE FOR HUNTING SEASON TO HIDE MY FACE WHEN I BOW HUNT ... I HATE WEARING CAMO MAKEUP. I USED TO SHAVE IT OFF FOR NEW YEARS EVE ... MY LAST TWO LTR'S BOTH ASKED ME TO KEEP IT .... THEY BOTH SAID IT MADE ME LOOK MORE "DISTINGUISHED" .... GO FIGURE. I RESPONDED TO YOUR BLOG BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH MYSELF. I KNOW I LOOK 10-15 YEARS YOUNGER WITHOUT IT. I SHAVED THE BEARD AND MUSTACHE OFF AFTER MY LAST LTR JUST TO SPITE HER, BUT THEN THOUGHT I LOOKED LIKE A KID, SO I GREW IT BACK. I ALWAYS KEEP IT SHORT AND WELL GROOMED AND BEING BLOND THE GREY IS LIGHT ENOUGH THAT IT JUST BLENDS IN. IF THOSE OF YOU READING MY RESPONSE WILL HELP ME OUT HERE??? I'LL DO A SURVEY OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. TAKE A LOOK AT MY PROFILE....I HAVE PHOTOS THERE WITH AND WITHOUT THE BEARD AND CAST YOUR VOTE. AT THE END OF THE TWO WEEKS (1/21/2007), I WILL GO WITH THE MAJORITY BECAUSE EITHER WAY ... IT DOESN'T CHANGE "WHO I AM". BY THE WAY LADIES, IT IS ACTUALLY LESS TIME CONSUMING AND EASIER TO SHAVE MY WHOLE FACE THAN TO KEEP TRIMMING IT.

I know I look younger w/o my beard, but also hate to shave my face. Now helping to shave my partner.......thats much more fun!

I have been told by several female friends that my beard suits me quite well....what do you think babe?

I think that I would miss my "flava-sava" if I ever shaved it off. As for age, people still call me "kid" on occasion at the ripe old age of 47 so I figgure that I ahead of the game.
