The Permanently Ban feature

To my knowledge i have never been blocked from comenting on someone's blog...

How do you know if you have...

Have you ever blocked someone...

I never have...

Freedom of speech and all that...

I go by the rule if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all...

At all times i try to be respectful of people and their opinions and i expect the same treatment in return...

To Ban or not to Ban...that is the question...

Though it is great if you can through your entire blogging life without banning someone, but alas there is always that one person that does not have the civility and must be punished.

i think your right not to ban just for the sake of it but if someone pesters you then dont feel bad about banning them after all it's also your right to not be abused(unless thats what your looking for)

have fun

If people are respectful and post intelligent comments, they should not be banned. A repeatedly vile or abusive individual should be zapped, banned, whatever is available.

In public forums I am totally against censorship, but this isn't a public forum. It's YOUR blog.

I personally wouldn't block someone just because they posted inflammatory or opposing views. I thrive on the open discussion of ideas. If I'm only hearing one viewpoint and everyone agreeing to it, what's the point of having the discussion?

But, this is your forum and it is ultimately up to you to determine its style and tone since a personal blog is a reflection of you.

Treat others the way you want to be treated and all is fine.

I've only ever had occasion to ban one member. It was pretty graphic, abusive and hateful comments directed to another commenter on a blog some time back. I'll take a lot of abuse myself but on my blog, I'm with you. Show some respect or get the "eff" out.

If someone has the audacity to be that rude/offensive towards yourself or anyone else that comments on your blog deserves what they get. And if you decide to ban them then I don't think that the rest of us would miss that person all that much...all for free speech but there is no need to get too nasty...
PS - love the new pic - still have the butt shot burned into my brain though. Sometimes being a standard member really has its downside - send more pictures!! *grin*

Playful I had to ban a woman not too long ago, she attacked me just out of the blue. After I banned her she still managed to post a comment still cursing me and threatening me. I dont know how she was able to do that after being banned. But I contacted AdultFriendFinder and they removed her profile. Well I discovered today that she is back with a new name. So I am just waiting to see if she fucks with me then she will be banned again and reported again. I do feel that if one wishes to comment, comment nicely and leave, if something pisses you off by a post then dont comment at all. But this is AdultFriendFinder and there is that freedom of speech, but I dont have to be on the receiving end of the abuse. No one should. Most of the abusing commenters dont usually have a blog, imagine that... So I say ban if you feel the need too.

I am the real deal! "Come Get Me!!!"

I haven't banned or been banned...I left an opinion on a blog recently in a polite manner(it was someone i respected and had responded to before) I recieved an abousive e-mail from the blogger and was the subject of two hateful blogs, for my trouble.
I had been respectful and polite in my response but the bloger flew into a rage with me..if they didn't like my comment they could have banned me ..that's what the feature is there for.
I always put my point of view in as polite away as possible and never resort to insults. It's a shame others can't do the same..
As for banning, i'm against it, we are all adults here and i stand by the right of everyone to have an opinion.

Haven't been banned in our little sexy-sexy community, but am banned from my local coffee shop.

And years ago, in my teens, I was banned from a diner in Brooklyn... mostly because I looked like this:

I have banned on a different site run by AdultFriendFinder... I was being blasted for being bi, love the sin, hate the sinner type of thing, and it just drove me to tears... that's not a loving communication... so since I had the "power" zap off they went!

I believe in the Freedom of SPEECH...Under the Anti-Terror Law. jkI truly believe everyone SHOULD voice their opinion. But, when disrespecting those around them and NOT participating in a productive dialogue between parties, they should BE banned blogged-out or whatever. It's your blog. You should be the one choosing who gets CENSORED.

Hi 1playfulgal,
I do think that people are entitled to an opinion, but if they are not going to be/say anything nice then there is no point in saying anything at all.
One more thing, i dont mean to offend, but what is with all these freaky pics of boners?

I wouldn't ban anyone unless they were just totally out of hand. Like you, I believe if you don't have anything positive to say, then why say it? But that isn't always the case.

I haven't banned anyone besides a creep who added a blog entry about having sex with his dog, and the sickening details of the aftermath. That made me sick to my stomach. people like that are not welcome anywhere in my opinion, and calling this piece of crap a person is more than he deserves. Animals are like children, they give love without hesitation, devotion without question, and this scumbag has sex with them. sometimes I hate humans, especially when they are less than the noble animal.

i thought i would never ban anyone, but after warning two people that i found their approach offensive they came back with more ... one was a lewd six verse poem on what they wanted to do to my body (first time I'd ever even heard of them); i did not want to keep that poem on my blog -- people can post poems to their own blog!

Banning something over something minor, I wouldn't do; but if they were totally obnoctious I may. Depends on what was said.

I believe i had the same issue with probably the same person...

he would comment sometimes reapeatedly on the same post i think he commented 11 times on one of my posts and it had nothing to do with the subject at hand...

I never did end up blocking him...he got the hint after i dropped a feww and started up his own blog...

leaving mine alone except for the occasional constructive comment...

SexyMac25 and unlistedone

Its something i think should be taught to everychild by everyparent...

Now if we could just drill that inot the head of every blogger...

triag916 and freakn4u69

freedom of speech is all fina and good when you are picketing or talking toa politican or writing a letter to a paper...

but when you are talking to a real person about something that they wrote...or pictures of their body...

there is absolutley no excuse for being disrespectful and rude...

I agree that everyone has the right to express their opinion...but we can take freedom of speech to is not something that we can hide behind while being offensive and disrespectful...

If you can not state your feelings and opionions in a way that does not belittle other people or tell them that their feelings/opionions are wrong...

then you need to fold your hands in your lap and refrain from commetning...
