Oddest forms of marriage

Got a kick out of this one...thought i'd share it...

Marriages between young children and old men were not unknown at various times in history, nor - more recently - are marriages between people of the same sex. More strange than any of these is surely marriage between a human being and an animal (which history has recorded) or between a human being and a tree! Tree marriages were prevalent in various parts of India. Among the Brahmans of southern India it was the custom that a younger brother should not marry before an older one. To satisfy the requirement, when there is no bride in sight for a senior brother, he is ceremoniously married to a tree (or to the spirit inside the tree) to allow the younger brother to take a wife. In some instances tree marriages occur at the same time as the marriage of the couple, the idea being that evil influence which may attach to the married pair be diverted to the tree.

A tree wife? But what if the knot hole is like, way up above your head? Is this the origin of "got wood" and other corny phrases? Still, I appreciate the trivia, and as always, a good pic of your ass. Still a fan of your blog, even though STD member status doesn't allow me to invite or accept invites, I guess. Write on.

Isn't it strange how the human species can come up with rules that ultimately are unworkable and then - rather then do away with the faulty rule - come up with a multitude of very creative ways to get around them? ER

EroticallyRapt true enough, just like those family traditions that everyone thinks are stupid...but they carry on with them because they are traditions instead of just doing away with them...
