One Plus One Equals One

Have you ever liked someone that was different enough to make you both appreciate and feel good about being individuals?

Have you ever liked that same someone who had the right commonalities with you that it would make you an incredible couple?

When you combine the two . . . does it make you whole?

whole: containing all components; complete; not divided or disjoined.

I’m not whole, but I could be. I’ve been walking around for the last two years like a bad, unsolved math problem. Now I understand that one plus one could equal one, but only if you want it to.

Thoughtful. Two becoming coming one. I like it. Each complements and completes the other. Strong where the other is weak. One intuitive. The other analytical. One tough. The other tender. One introverted. The other extroverted.

Guess which I am. Which are you?

I think we agree on the feeling. Lack of completion.

So ... the math is actually:

Two who are not complete, alone, can be complete if together.

I've known that completion 3 times and I miss it. Sadness that completion can fade, over time, so that the feeling of being one returns to two who are no longer complete again. Joy in completion regained with another. Sadness in loss again. If one were to live forever, how many of these cycles could we survive? I once heard Timothy Leary speak of eternal physical life as a possibility. I'm not so sure my heart and soul could stand such an eternity.

Interesting concept, problem is both have to be able to do the math
