THE SECRET INGREDIENT
How many times have you eaten something for the
first time,or tried some new product, and had a
positive experience, that is until you became a
victim of..."too much information!"
I was at a fairly higher-end eatery (at least
by my standards, anyway) for brunch one Sunday,at
one of the buffet tables there was a carving station,
and the gentleman stationed there was cutting
healthy sized portions(healthy as in big!)
of ham, roast beef, and what I assumed was some kind
of prime rib... everything was great; the prime
rib had a unique taste, kind of beefy but with a
sort of fishy edge to it,which I attributed to
the liberal amount of gravy it was served with.
All was well, until our waitress came to take my
plate after my third trip to the buffet for more
prime rib. As she turned from the table she looked
back at me and said "wow sugar, you sure do like
that alligator and brown sauce!"....Let's just say
I didn't ask what was in the brown sauce...but
I knew where the fishy overtones came from!
In general I'm not a big seafood fan(kind of
funny,I grew up around water, spent half my adult
life as a hard-hat diver,and make my living/spend
my free time on boats,go figure)but I had absolut-
ly zero desire to eat 3 plates full of swamp
lizard....It was on the way out that I finally saw
the sign promoting the Mardi Gras Bayou Brunch..
So here's a little too much information I'd
like to pass on to the ladies that I came across
Q) Where is the substance"ambergris"(am'burr gree)
found and what is it used for?
1. Intestines of sick sperm whales
2. the base of rhinocerus horns
3. the earwax of elephants
A) Ambergris is a very valuable substance, fatty in
consistency, found in the intestines of ill sperm
whales, it is used in the manufacturing of high-
end perfume to prevent evaporation of some of the
expensive and rare oils that create the fragrance!
Reprieve: Scientists learned to synthesize amber-
gris in 1955, no more whale bile in your Chanel..
Eau de Colon Cologne

Living in Hog Country here in Ill-Annoy, one gets used to the traditional 'cutting of the hogs' days. You know the ones - where the pigs are castrated.|
I learned the hard way never EVER attend the cook-out that night.
