I didn't do anything special....I had to do that...I had no choice. He was bleeding, no money, and nobody to call on. I could be in worse shape some day. I'm just glad he came over here so we could help him. If we hadn't been home, the poor fellow may have stayed home and bled to death...

silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 9:14 pm: Thank You Nikki I just felt like I had to help him. He was in a bad situation and didn't have anyone to call on. The same could happen to me some day..
I was glad I was home....and was able to do it. I feel sure he wouldn't have went to the hospital with no insurane or money...and he said he didn't have a family doctor. He's one of these people that usaully never go to a doctor...but, he doesn't usually get cut like that either. He was working on his car that wasn't running...trying to get it running again. Sure was a bad time to get cut

silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 9:26 pm: OH! I have a funny story to tell you about anchovies! Back when my son was still living at home, he was always a big show off. He had some friends over and he wanted to call and get a couple large pizza's delivered. He wanted them with anchovies on them! ( now, keep in mind, he had never eaten them before but he had been told it was little fish that smelled bad) Well, being the show off he is, he was going to "show" his friends how good he liked anchovies! We told him he probably wouldn't like them...but being the " hard headed show off he is", he wouldn't listen so that's what he ordered.
The pizza man brought them...and we took the boxes to the kitchen table. The aroma was already strong even before we opened the boxes! My son opened the first box, that smell came up and he was gagging! His friends ran out of the room!
I was LMAO........
He said it was going to make him sick! I told him "Well, Mr. Show Off", they cost too much to throw away, so you better put a clothes pin on your nose and start eating!
They picked off all the little fish...and tried to eat it....but they were making faces. I didn't eat any cause I don't like pizza anyway. Hubby took one bite and said that was enough for him
He never ordered another one with anchovies after that

You know there is a lot of people out there that would shut the door in that guys face. Because they don't want to get involved. I've been in that guys situation before and it's embarrassing. Especially when the persons door your banging on refuses to call 911 for you.
I try to help people out as much as I can. I'm really glad you helped the kid out ...

silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 9:32 pm: I felt like I had too. We aren't really friends with him and his wife, but I do know him. He's been here living close several years...and I knew him when he was young. In fact, he and my son went to school together.
He really didn't have anyone to call on....and I know for a fact he lost his job. ( he does construction work and building is slow now...they didn't need him anymore...and he has two small kids too) I just couldn't let someone stand there and bleed like that just because they didn't have money or insurance. This is a messed up world...when places won't help you without insurance or money in your pocket. They don't care if you bleed too death or just fall over dead. If he pays me back...OK, but if he doesn't or can't, I won't worry about it. That was just something I had to do.....

silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 9:37 pm: Hey Cherri I love to mess with hubby with garlic! I have never seen anyone that hates the smell of it as bad as he does! He gags when he smells it! I told him he should try some cause it's really good for you. It helps so many things. I don't care if it makes my breath smell for 3 weeks! That's why I carry breath mints with me all the time
I'm about a month behind in blogs and it's really been hectic these past couple of weeks. My daughter lost her home...and we had to hurry and find one....and I've been baby sitting..and helping her pack and move. I wasn't able to work in the blogs and my list is running over. I'm just working my way through it....and I'll be by to see you soon....

Hello Silver!! I love the picture of the Shell station. I wish we had shell stations like that here. The children would be amused!! I am like you Silver. I would have done the same thing with that young man needing medical attention. Try to slow down. Relax, breathe!! Peace from Outoftouch1954
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 11:04 pm: I loved that old Shell station when I was young There actually was several of them made. This one was in my town though. It's still there but not in use. They keep it painted and try to preserve it..which I am glad they do. It would be a shame to see it just crumble down.
Yep....I had to help that fellow....when someone is standing there bleeding...you know..what can you do. I couldn't turn him away. He really didn't have a soul he could call on...and I felt bad for him. I was just glad I could do something to help.....

That was so nice of you to do that for young man. I am a garlic lover, also I have get one of those blings. Do you ever watch Rachael Ray 30 minute meals, she uses garlic in everything. Thanks for the testimonial.
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 11:13 pm: You can get it by just clicking here on it >>>>
It was made by danaman4u I told him how much I loved garlic and asked if he could make some kind of garlic bling. I love this one..he did a great job on it!
Yes, I have seen Rachael Ray cooking and I noticed she likes using garlic too! It's funny....my hubby will watch her cook and when he see's that garlic...he will say " OH NO....she is ruining the food"!!!! ( he hates it so bad!
I love it so good...that I eat raw cloves of it. I ate some today that was SO hot I think it opened every sinus cavity I have...but, that's a good thing I love it in everything I eat...almost...
Your most welcome for the testimonial....

Both Dark and I eat garlic but when she cooks fish or worse, liver,I tend to disappear to the Man Cave til the smell goes away, lmao. Well done for being the good Samaritan Pat,the guy is lucky to have a neighbor like you.

silverbreeze2 replies on 6/22/2008 11:51 pm: Hey Bubba You don't like smelling fish? Oh, I love to smell fish frying
I love to eat liver so that smell doesn't bother me. ( I eat chicken livers, not cow liver). There really isn't anything I can think of that makes me sick as far as food. But, I don't like the smell of popcorn. Hubby will fix microwave popcorn and it almost makes me sick. I don't eat it either. But I love garlic and if it wasn't for him, I would eat everything smothered in garlic. I even eat raw cloves of it. ( do you want to smell my breath? I have a feeling you would be running to the man cave!!
As for that young man...I just did what had to be done. I couldn't let him bleed too death...it just had to be done. I'm glad his cut wasn't any worse...he'll be OK

I'm a vegetarian Pat and whilst I don't mind Dark eating meat, those are two smells that really get up my nose, lmao.
Bubba.
Intelligence is often over-rated by the ignorant.
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 6:20 am: Hi Bubba I knew you were a vegetarian....and now that I think about it, if you didn't eat meat, I guess that smell would smell bad. I hadn't thought of that before...but yes, I can see why it would be hard to take. Maybe that's why my hubby can't take the smell of garlic...he doesn't eat it and the smell is very repulsive to him
I could "almost" be a vegetarian....but I do like chicken. I don't like red meat such as beef...and I don't eat any kind of pork. I do like seafood....but I'm really not a big meat eater. I do love fried chicken livers though

Yay! There are still people like you in the world. Just reading this makes me so glad to know YOU!! you may downplay it but it's those little kindnesses that make the world a good place!!
I'll have to remember the garlic thing for fighting off a cold. I usually head to the beach and swim in the ocean. Something about being submerged in salt water and sitting in the sun for even a little bit. Just washes and bakes away the germs.
The only thing I HAVE to do is eat, shit, and die. Everything else is a choice.
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 7:05 am: Hi Fire I don't feel like I didn't anything special...just something that had to be done. When you see someone bleeding like that, help is all you can think of...and the poor fellow didn't have a soul to call on. I'm just happy we could help him in his time of need. If you don't want to eat raw garlic or put it in your food...garlic capsules will work wonders. It is good for so many different things. OH...I just thought of this...if you are planning on breast feeding..don't eat garlic! It will come out in the milk and the baby won't eat. ( same with onions...they say don't eat garlic or onions).
I agree with you...the salt air and water does seem to help things. I had a bad cold once when we had a beach trip planned...and I began to feel better after we were there a few days...

Ahhh my dear sweet Olivia always a good soul whether it be here or out there. We are so much alike is why I think we've always just "clicked". I just recently gave a much needed $30 bucks of grocery money here to a girl who's pregnant & needed knee surgery but had no money for the fuel to get to the hospital. As I handed it to her my poor husband had that look he gives me ,both of us knowing we'd never see the money again, but you know I can't just look the other way. I figure the $30 would have gone on sodas, snacks & such with the kids being home for the summer & we're all too fat anyway . My son, in an attempt to hide his drinking, came home 1 evening after eating whole clove garlics he's roasted. Smelled so strong made my eyes water & gave me a bloody headache~mind you I adore garlic as well. So on this 1 I must take his side, there can be too much garlic . I wasn't aware we had a reverend on our scandalous swinger sight .I don't see why not though if he is indeed a reverend. I continuously tell folks this is not just a place to get laid!! I have made/met many lovely friends & as with firegryphon I know many here that have met/fell in love/have babies. Can't all be bad right Olivia . Love & Blessings as always my dear sweet friend. Olive ewe!!

*~* Peace & Blessings *~*
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 9:35 pm: Thanks You Lady... I know what you mean about helping. Sometimes you just feel you have too...and you know chances are you will never see the money again..but I think when something is tugging at your heart strings..you just have to do it.
That's funny about your son eating garlic to hide the drinking That was pretty clever! I bet it made him feel rather sick though Tell him next time to suck on a " Halls" cough drop! I knew a fellow who always carried around Halls cough drops to cover up the alcohol smell I guess it worked cause I never smelled alcohol...only that Halls. I don't see how he stood it though cause Halls makes me sick!
Olive Ewe Lady with the pretty eyes!!!

Good morning Silver,You never stop amazing me. with every thing that is on your plate, you are the first one to jump into action. Hats of to you as always..Very glad you were there to help that man. Is there a sign out in your front yard that says stop here this lady will help.LOL. After all the garlic is your cold any better,LOL on the conversation with your hubby. I think the Shell gas station was a little before our time gaging by the pumps but very cool. But I do remember 25 cents a gal.and 11 cents early 70's during gas wars in Miami. I remember when MacDonald's was only a walk up window the building was about the same size as the shell station in your picture,AH the good old days..... You have a good one Silver.......M.
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 10:00 pm: Hi Mike I think there is an invisible sign at my place saying " Come on over"! Everybody in the neighborhood comes to us when they have problems or need to borrow anything. I don't know why unless it's because we're the oldest ones here...and maybe they look at us like grandparents or something I've always helped out when I could...cause I just feel like that is the right thing to do. I may need to call on someone one of these days myself.
Concerning that old Shell gas station, when I was in my teens, it still had those old timey pumps there, but they didn't use them. They had installed the newer electric pumps...but I think they just left the old pumps there for folks to look at.
I was real young when I went to my first McDonald's I was a walk up...and at this one, they didn't have a dining room but they had tables and chairs outside to eat. It was in the town of Winston Salem. I think I may have been around 10 at the time...and the burgers were real cheap..I can't really remember the price but real cheap. That was a treat to us...cause fast food wasn't anything we had before McDonald's came along Things were more simple back then weren't they

Silver, my dear. Knowing you, I thought you were going to say that you stitched it up yourself!!!! I love garlic too, but not enough to eat it raw!!!
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 10:06 pm: Hi Maddy The funny thing was, I told that fellow ( as a joke) that I could sew it up for him He just looked at me with his eyes as large as dinner plates! I think he thought I was serious However, I have known of people doing that. My hubby said when he was young, if any of the boys got cut, their mama sewed it up! I tell ya...they were tougher than I would have been. I would have been screaming my head off! My first cut was on my knee....and I was taken to a doctor for stitches, and you have never heard such screaming in your life! The doctor finally told me I would have to be quiet! I don't think it hurt that bad...but I was scared.
Oh, I love garlic fixed anyway...cooked or raw. It's a shame my hubby gets sick when he smells it. It really is good for you... I knew he didn't like real garlic cloves, so I once got some garlic powder to sprinkle in food...since it's good for you...but he could taste it and told me not to put that in food anymore

I though there too as I was reading that you were gonna stitch it after the ice cut down on the bleeding LOL. My aunt used to do that all the time. I would think with it cut to the tendon it was too deep and may have needed a stitch inside. You are a great woman Silver no wonder your neighbors love you. We do too.
I have always had a sensitive stomach and even the smell of fresh garlic gets it all churned up. I dont mind the smell just my tummy does. I do love garlic bread though. Just a small piece.

silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 10:13 pm: HI Dimples I was just telling Maddy that I told that fellow I would sew it up for him ( joking) and he had this look of panic on his face! I could tell he sure didn't like that idea! Hubby's mama use to sew them up! Of course, there were 6 boys in that family so someone was always getting cut. I don't guess with that many boys, they could afford to run to the doctor every time one got hurt. I asked hubby didn't it hurt...since they didn't have medicine to numb it..and he said OH YES it hurt!
Oh, I like your picture here...now we can see your dimples.
I think my hubby wishes I didn't love garlic as good as I do. But, I really love it. I even eat raw cloves of it. You know how some people like onions on hot dogs? I like chopped garlic on mine! ( and you can smell me for days!!!!! But I do keep a good supply of Altoid peppermints ( along with lots of brushing and Listerine...so it's really not that bad

I love the parrot joke and school was sure better way back when...I hope your head and chest cold is better by now and nothing bad is happening with hubby.....shoot me an email when you can and check out the pic of our new house I posted with the new post I posted....
hope I didn't forget anything..... Love and hugs Sista.... Share~

may your smile always shine, your joy never cease and your day be full of blessings......
silverbreeze2 replies on 6/23/2008 10:35 pm: Hey Sugar Well, I felt like we had no choice. I felt so bad for the fellow...he didn't have a soul he could call on..and it was clear he needed stitches..so there was no way I could turn my back on him. I'm just thankful we were home..and was able to help him. He's doing OK. I saw him today and he's keeping it bandaged and taking care of it..until time to get the stitches out.
I'm still battling this chest cold but I got some "Mucinex" and maybe that will help. Summer colds just seem to linger...and I think my resistance got real run down from all the things going on.
I have been helping my daughter pack and move this week and baby sit too...so it's been really hectic. Right now we're moving little things...and moving some things she doesn't have room for in storage. It's going to take a while to get everything moved...however, she doesn't have to get out of the house right away. She may still have a couple weeks left. At least my g/child likes where they are moving...kids seem to adjust better than the adults do. That lake right there still worries me, but I have preached to my daughter to really watch her. I feel sure she will. Right now there is some water leaks they are trying to get fixed....that's always a mess. Oh, I need to get over to your blog and look at your picture!!!!
I'll write you asap.....
