dense fog

A dense fog surrounds my home and a cold rain intermittently falls. I really don't like this kind of winter weather, even though this is the warmest winter in recorded history. Cold, gray and wet weather causes me to skip assignations, postpone errands and instead dig deeper into my books and reading. Yet the birds in my back yard are very happy. They are flitting around searching for food and friends. They chase each other and peck at anything that might provide nourishment. They need places like mine but they can always find this kind of habitat in a nearby woodlot. Some birds stay here, happy, while others flee to those woodlots or to warmer climes. The contrast is not that great from how people differ from each other. Some thrive under pressure while others retreat. Some are conflict averse while others love the frisson of butting heads. Social, or solitary? Do you fear the future and death or do you look forward to tomorrow and new opportunities? No doubt there are some people who would love to sit in my house and watch the fog envelope them, set a fire in the fireplace and settle in with a bottle of wine or Scotch. There are times when sitting in my all-glass and white-walled aerie with snow swirling on three sides that I bliss out. But I want to get out of town. Cold dense fog does not suit me well. I will soon head south to see TPO and then continue on to my fave beach town in Mexico. I don't have consistent responses to feelings of pressure, conflict or fear of the future but Idoknow that I need to get away for a few weeks and meet new friends. I will return during the still cold winter but my batteries will be recharged. Dense fog won't bother me on my return. |

I loved the early morning fog in Hilton Head but my favorite fog is the kind that you get in San Francisco. In answer to your question, I always look forward--never back. TPO is a lucky girl to get your undivided attention and adoration. I'm sure you'll relish every moment you have with her. I'm fond of Mexican beach towns too. Be careful. Stay safe, Rejuvenate! You'll be missed.

Have a wonderful time with TPO and in the serenity of nature. She broke your throne, she cut your hair, and from your lips she drew the Halleluljah. -Cohen
