DOIN' IT DOGGIE STYLE....
5/11/2007 10:34 pm |
I just spent the day back home trying to catch up on some things down there.... I got to spend some time with Henri... for those that don't know, Henri's my cat, and Tiffy to... Short sweet and simple, I'm missin' Henri and Tiffy right now and thinkin' back to when I first got Henri... It wasn't easy coming up with a name for him, nor most of my pets I've had before... Ya see I let my pets name themselves, it's kinda hard to explain but I never name them right of the bat, I just wait until their name just falls into place, the right name for'em.. Cats, dogs, that's the way it's always been with me and them... Henri wasn't named after my dad as some think, his name was Henry, Henri's the most ornery cat I've ever had and Henri in french is pronounced, Onrey or something like it... just seemed so right at the time and still today... So now I'm wonderin', Past or present, what were your pets names, how'd ya come up with'em? ~spunky |

grown up with pets......got benji when i was little(lord, she was a puppymaking machine! all her pups died and i bought a purebred spitz from my exboss...oh the dog was funny picked up by two siamese cats, sam is still here. he is a seal point and a helluva massage therapist...lol his brother daniel was a chocolate point--lost him several years ago. now, if i had a camcorder and followed daniel around; i would never have to buy cat food or litter again! he danced on command. i think daniel's theory was, he was to entertain his humans, and ohhh did he.... miss him so much.....when he went to bed, he would lay on my arm and rest his head on my hand. awwwwwww i was with him when he died. he kissed me on the tip of my tip, put his down and closed his big, beautiful, blue eyes....no longer in pain. when you see a chance, dig your spurs in and ride ![]()

Well we don't have a dog at the moment. The Marley got his name after the great name search. Being a black lab I was looking for a name that suited him. A friend at the time had a dog amber named for an ale we drank. I named marley after Bob " a poet and a prophet" Marley. That day there was a tape with in the car when I got in it. Sadly he is gone now. The next great name search has begun. To be continued..............12-04-06 You can read about the worst day ever. ![]() Marley 07-02-93 to 12-04-06 13 years 5 months and 2 days lest we forget........

When I was a kid I had a cat called Sugar. Dunno why my folks got me a cat cause nobody in the family ever liked them and I was allergic to boot. Ho hum. Then I had hamsters called Jubilee, Peanut, Cinnamon, Whitey, Jessie, Cocoa, Ginger, Fred, Ted and Titch. I love hamsters, they look like scuba divers when they fill their cheek pouches up. Too funny... I also had a pet squirrel called Essfor (S for Squirrel, LOL!) and a rat that never really got a name. More recently I had another hamster called Freckles. She was pretty much a free range feral hamster, I used to leave the door to her cage open and she would come & go as she pleased, and she also caught quite a lot of the cockroaches that were infesting my flat. I used to hear weird crunching noises coming from under my sofa as she chewed the shells up. Euwww... And now I've got three dogs that I share with my sister. Linford (black greyhound) was named after sprinter Linford Christie, and Mona & Fester already had their names by the time we got them.

well Jeff I think you know that I have Great Danes that top in at 185 pounds each, and their names are Odin, Phobos, and Demos and if you ever where to see them mad you would understand the names, as in Odin the God of Thunder and Phobos and Demos the gods of Fear and Terror. Seeing that all three are attack trained the names are fitting, don't yuh think. By the By Jeff in it's great and exalted wisdom Adult FriendFinder has given me my old handle and password back. God bless their sweet little Heine's. Now I suppose they will expect to have me give them all a crack lick in front of all Adult FriendFinder members, well good luck to them on that one.So now at least I don't have to copy and paste all of my old blogs. No cats because i am allergic to them. As for Dogs, when i was growing up we had a German shepherd named Snider because he used to curl his lip up in this sideways nasty look when strangers would come over. We also had a Dalmation named Buttons..because of the shape of her dots, and another Dalmation named Gerkin named that way cause her mother's name was Pickles. When i was married and we started a family we got a 1/2 german shepherd, 1/2 Labrador dog from the pound and the children named him Sandy because of his color. Last year my son Andrew was given a 1/2 pit bull and 1/2 hound as a birthday gift. He named him Lucky because out of 9 puppies he was the only one to survive Parvo. The children have also had a turtle named Charlie after Charlie Brown and a dwarf bunny named Freckles because she had little bitty brown spots all over her white body.

I've had several Great Danes. Two black ones named Joni (Mitchell) and Garcia (who attended 2 shows with us in Rich Stadium and RFK Stadium), a mangy Harlequin I rescued and named Lucy, a champion Harlequin named Dice, and another black named Jack (Straw). Currently I have a Blue Merle named (Tennessee) Jed. Before I fell in the love with the Dane, I had a mixed shepherd named Athena. Elevate me... ![]()

When my brother and sister still lived at home, we had several pets... A dog named Prince. (Don't ask why - I was VERY young at the time...) A cat named Killer. (I called it 'Moron') Later there was another cat named Patches. (Whom I called 'Rat') My brother has a whole menagerie at the moment - the most notable is a rabbit named 'Stu'.

We had a cat named Jet because he was totally black, had one named Moe because he was a tiger and he had the "M" on his forehead. My cat now is Tigger because she reminds of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, always being nosey, bouncing around, and getting in to trouble Vern I Wanna Pull Purpletrashcan's Fucking Hair! ![]()

I'm just going to mention the cats and dogs that we have had since we got married. No pets now. Our last one had to be put to sleep several years ago. Missy-toy poodle. That was her name when we got her. Snoopy-mutt. He looked like snoopy from the cartoons Rinkles-Daschund. Already named when we got him, because of all the wrinkles he had on his face. Jack Russel Terrier-can't remember her name. Kitty-my ex brought her home from work one night. Named Kitty because we couldn't think of anything else. Blackie- because she was black Felix- son of Blackie Oscar-other son of Blackie. Felix and Oscar were named after the Odd Couple because their mommy left them, we had to bottle feed them like babies. They were odd because one of them would suck on the little male protrusion. The suckee didn't like it, so he would cry and cry. I imagine it was painful. Daisy-Already named. Left behind by her family when they moved!! We didn't want her in the house because we already had the 3 house cats, so she became my ex's garage cat. Mickey-named after a cat my ex had as a child. I think that was all of them. "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened." ![]()

I do it the same way. I wait a bit and let my animal name itself regardless of the animal. Spunky I remembered the first time you posted to my blog, which was your comment on the likness between your Henri and my Heathen. Now I have seen him I agree they could be family. Take care. Yes! As a matter of fact I do think I am ALL that and then some!! Pumpkin, so glad you noticed.![]()

Mowser, the cat, was named as a joke, but it stuck. I almost named him Sebastian. But Mowser was cuter, though I toyed with Mauser. Jack, the black lab, was originally named Achilles by the people who owned him before. My mom and I decided to rename him, and he became Blackjack, or Jack, for short. ![]() The King of Diamonds...A Heavy Metal Christmas!!! (re-re-re-reposted)

I was in the pet store buying a cat when I walked past this tank with this little Dachshund who was just crying her eyes out. Well, I thought "oh you poor little thing, I'll hold you for a moment and love you." Hahaha, and that was the end of that. As I held her that first time I asked what her name was and it floated into my head. We were together for 12 and half years before she transitioned this world. I hope when I go she will be waiting to greet me on the other side.

I'd have quite a list if I named them all, but currently residing in our house is... The two dogs, Katie Dog - She was a rescue dog and they called her "KK" we didn't like that and Katie was close enough that she still recognized it as her name...so Katie it is. Dog was added later, just seemed she needed an addition to her name. Now I respectfully call her "Old Woman". She's looked after me and the family for many years and I don't know what I'm going to do when she's gone. Loki - Appropriately named if you look up the Norse Gods. I love her, but she can drive you crazy. The three cats, all brothers from the same litter, Mercury - When was named so because when he was born he looked like a ball of silver mercury all curled up in your hands. Now I tell him it's because he's as big as the planet. LMAO TumTum - He is black and has a triangular marking of white on his tummy...tummy tum tum...thus TumTum. He's a funny critter, with light patches of white "man hair" in all the appropriate places...underarms, pubic area, chin chopper. LOL He's also know as "TumTum the Wild Boy!" He lusts after nekkid women just coming out of the shower. He'll paw at the door, lick you dry when you get out, and give you open kisses (not licks) but KISSES, on the mouth if he gets half a chance to get at you. LOL Jersey - Poor Jersey just ain't all there. He was born premature (did you know that cats can conceive with different mates at different times even and apparently he was a bit behind the rest of the litter) and didn't even have hair on some of his body. He was so little even the vet didn't think he would make it. We spoiled him extra hard, made sure he nursed all he wanted before the other's were allowed and he's nice and big and healthy now. I don't know if it's because he was so premature, or if he has something like the human form of down's syndrome, but he's obviously a few whiskers short of being a normal cat and it does even show in his face. He can't judge distance and jump like most cats, even the shortest distances. I worry about him hurting himself because of that but he seems to take it in stride. We named him Jersey because he looks like a cow, but the kind he looks like is a Holstein. That just didn't seem like the right name, so we named him after another kind of cow. Just call it poetic license. LOL And now we have a box turtle residing in my spare bathtub. We're calling him "Squirt"...don't ask. LMAO

hi. right now, we have the bunny, which has many names. his original name is snow, but i call him bun-bun, hubby calls him thumper (as he thumps his feet hard when he is jumping around). the pug...puggy...very easy there. the calico as well, is callie. my tabby was named when i got her from petsmart..princess, but i call her pen-pen. the persian is chloe, her original name was cleo, but we thought that was an ugly name. we have all kind of nicknames for her too. for my kitty that passed a few years ago, her name was miss bows. when i got her, she was about a year and a half. they named her that b/c when they picked her up from the breeders, she had bows in her hair, plus when they would take her to the groomers they would put bows in her hair (she was a persian). i miss my baby. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had a little feline friend years ago named "Puss-n-cat" and another couple since then with equally pathetic names like "Blackcat" and " Tomcat" I've had a dog named "Bigdog". And then there was one of my horses " Whinney". My imagination hits a brick wall when it comes to naming my animals.

My cat, Precious, named herself. She had a kink in her neck as a kitten so it always looked like she was cocking her head to the side. She would run around the house (wood floors) try to stop and end upsidedown in a corner. She still, 12 years later, fits her name. There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ. As a kid we had pets, first a cat, named Mittens, because he was black with white paws. There was also a dog during my teenage years named Ginger, called that because of her color... Have not had any pets since then, unless you count the summer I bunny sat for my son. He simply called him Bunny, but I always called him Booger, because the little booger would do goofy stuff when he was left alone. Flipping his water bottle off the cage and turning his little hutch upside down were just a few of his little tricks. hotandhorny1082
